The students in Mr. Chavez's class have been learning about traditions as it relates to holidays and culture. They read the book Too Many Tamales and their culminating activity was preparing, cooking, and eating tamales 🫔. Looks super fun AND delicious! ❤️🥳📚

Rudy Silva Elementary is very proud to announce that second grader, Aubree Garza has been selected as one of five finalists to have their Fire Prevention poster turned into a decal and placed on the side of one of Weslaco's Fire Trucks! 🚒🔥🧑🚒
The final ranking will be revealed tentatively on Thursday January 5th, 2023 at The Weslaco City Hall. As the date approaches, more details will be provided. Way to go Aubree! Her Art teacher is Mrs. Natalie Llanos.
Thank you to the following groups for their generosity in making this year's Secret Angels program a success: Silva Elementary staff and parent volunteers, First Presbyterian Church and Julie's Angels from First Baptist Church. In total, we had 102 students who received gifts from their sponsors.

Congratulations to the first student to finish their Imagine Math grade-level pathway. Maddux Rodriguez is the first mathematician to move to the next level. You are Awesome. Keep up the excellent work. Can't wait to see the next student go beyond their level.
WHS Head Football Coach Roy Stroman and Desi Rodriguez, Director of Athletics, were on campus today to mentor 5th grade students on how to have a "built to win" mentality. They will continue to visit with students throughout the year.

In collaboration with Student Support Services, Mr. Dan Budimir, Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership - Team Panther, visited with Mrs. Marines' and Ms. Jimenez's classes as part of the 12 Days of Kindness district initiative. Students enjoyed the read aloud and activity led by Mr. Budimir. Thank you to Dr. Cynthia Cid and our counselor Mrs. Rodriguez for this presentation!
Ms. Lou Ann Sarachene from David's Legacy Foundation was our guest speaker today as she presented to kinder - 5th grade classes. Her presentation focused on Anti-Bullying. Thank you Mrs. Rodriguez for inviting her to our campus!
Our Silva Elementary holiday canned food drive was a HUGE success! A special thank you to all of our students, families, teachers, and staff for your generous donations. Our Silva family is so thrilled to know we have your support.
Through your donations and partnership with our Silva Parent Center, we were able to provide several of our very own Silva families with complete Thanksgiving meals. We also donated several non-perishable food items to a local community food bank. We have truly made the difference working together and we are extremely grateful!
This would not have been possible without us being Silva UNIDOS. May God grant all our Silva families a blessed Thanksgiving Holiday. Be safe and thank you all once again ♥️

The semester is flying by and we are getting closer to becoming a dual language academy! Our amazing teachers are preparing by attending training with experts in the field. On this day, teachers had the privilege of learning from Dr. Sandra Mercuri, National Educational Consultant.
Our day ended celebrating our 2nd Six Weeks Superstars with a parade!
Mrs. Peralez and Mr. Lear's homeroom classes performed "Gobble It Up!" A Thanksgiving Reader's Theatre play for classes today. Students did an amazing job and showed the talent we have here at Silva Elementary! Thank you Mrs. Peralez for preparing our students for their performances.
Thank you to WHS Student Council members for visiting our campus today and reading to our students. We loved the books they shared with us!

Congratulations to Ms. Claudia Jimenez, our amazing 5th grade teacher! Her Donors Choose project was funded by Charles H. Butt and four other donors. Through her project she was able to acquire Wacom tablets for her students. Ms. Jimenez's students will use the tablets to solve math problems and write stories on Jamboard electronically. Way to go, Ms. Jimenez on your awesome efforts to create a more engaging classroom environment for your students! 🤩🤩🤩
Mariachi Silva tryouts will take place tomorrow morning before school (7am to 8am) in the music room. Students will sing 1) Las Mañanitas and 2) A song of their choice. We are looking forward to it! 💜🎺🎶

ALL students in 3rd, 4th & 5th grades are invited to audition for Mariachi Silva. Mariachi tryouts are NEXT WEEK! All students must turn in a signed permission slip before the audition.
