Although Hands-On Equations Fractions may be used with upper elementary students, 8th Graders can also benefit from this concrete representation of verbal problems involving fractional parts. With the use of fraction blocks, this 4th grader is solving an algebra equation with fractional coefficients. This approach is presented in the Hands-On Equations Fractions program. It may be used by gifted students as early as the second grade if they have completed level 1 of the regular Hands-you Equations program.

We extend our best wishes to Dr. Henry Borenson on his 81st birthday.

We asked him if he would share a brief message with the Borenson Math community. He said:

"I am grateful that the Creator has enabled me to have a very productive life, one in which I have been able to make a meaningful contribution to the field of mathematics education.
