We are extending the early registration period for a few more days so that we can guarantee as many of you as possible the 5k race shirt to go with your registration! Our 5k team is planning to order a smaller cushion of shirts this year so that we can maximize the dollars going towards our program needs this year so please register before the early deadline to guarantee that you get a 5k shirt this year!

Images of the Raffle Bundles ✨️

This upcoming weekend, the RCMS Band program will be hosting the 14th Band on the Run on Saturday, April 18th. We will also be drawing raffle tickets for some amazing gift baskets. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $2 from any of our band students or from the front desk and will be sold up until the drawing on Saturday. See the attached image or stop by the front office tomorrow to see some of the bundles up for grabs this Saturday! All proceeds from Band on the Run directly support the instruction of over 180 students enrolled in band at RCMS.

Bundle Descriptions:

Kitchen Supply Basket - a complete set of ceramic non-stick cookware, utensils, trivets, and a variety of kitchen accessories

Grill Supply Restock - long grill utensils, skewers, smoker chips, thermometer probe, grilling supplies

Hot Girl Bundle - Lululemon, Owala, and other necessities for an active lifestyle (may contain Lulu sweatpants)

Kitchen Aesthetic - live edge cheese board, pottery, unique character pieces

Outdoor Fun Tote - variety pack of classic backyard/beach games

Car Wash Basket - collection of supplies to detail your car inside and out

More baskets are up for grabs this weekend, too! They are hiding in the band room right now.

We are now 11 weeks away from the Band on the Run! If you are following along with our 12-week "couch to 5k" program, here is the schedule for next week:

Week 2 - The goal of this week is to incorporate a small amount of running into your routine. Walk for 4 minutes and run for 1, a total of 5 times, and end on a 4-minute walk.

(Feel free to substitute walk/run for sled/skate)

Week 2
Monday (2/2) - Walk/Run 29 minutes
Tuesday (2/3) - Rest
Wednesday (2/4) - Walk/Run 29 minutes
Thursday (2/5) - Rest
Friday (2/6) - Walk/Run 29 minutes
Saturday (2/7) - Walk/Run 29 minutes
Sunday (2/8) - Rest

Early Registration ends on March 14th. Be sure to register by then to guarantee that you will have a Band on the Run race shirt for race day!

March 14th is also our deadline for sponsorships.

So far, we have already received pledges of over $1,000 from local businesses and leaders. That puts us over 10% towards our year goal of $10,000 raised for our band program to purchase new instruments, equipment, and repair our current inventory.

The Band on the Run 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run is on Saturday April 18, 2026. It includes the following events: Band on the Run 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run.

Do you have an old band instrument sitting in the back of your closet, underneath your bed, or taking up space in your storage? We want to help you with that!

Regardless of the condition!

By donating your old instrument, you will be providing access to a deserving student one of the greatest privileges of all: learning how to make music. At the same time, you will be decluttering your space. It's a win-win!

To donate your instrument, simply deliver it to Rockingham County Middle School and drop it off in the front office and we will handle the rest.

We are less than a week away from the 13th Annual Band on the Run 5k and Fun Run!

We are so excited for the raffle this year. The generosity of our community has allowed us to offer many bountiful gift baskets for raffle. You can buy a chance at any of these baskets for only $2 per ticket.

These are the baskets we have prepared for our raffle on April 5th:

Game tote:
Spike ball, Large Jenga set, Kam Jam, ladder golf, & two large River tubes.

Wicker Kitchen basket:
Cookie sheets, wire cooling racks, mixing bowls, measuring cups, measuring spoons, dish detergent, hand soap, waffle maker, pot holders, & kitchen towels.

Car wash basket:
Car foaming cannon, foaming car wash, Chemical brothers products for leather & interior, Wet tire cleaner, Invisiglass cleaner, tire brush, sponges, microfiber cloths, chenille towels for drying, and lots of detailing brushes.

3 separate drawing for a dozen of custom cupcakes
