Students looking for a music teacher should ask good questions before committing to lessons. There are no quick fixes in music.
Does the teacher have a music degree? Vocal performance is preferred for singers piano performance for piano.
Do they have piano competency for accompanying?
Classical singing is foundational to all singing just like ballet is foundational to dance. Do they know classical repertoire?
Do they know English French Italian and German diction?
Have their students gone on to study music? If so , where?
Have their students won or placed in competitions?
Do they seek continuing education?
Are they members of professional organizations like NATs .. national association of teachers of singing or MTNA -music teachers national association.
Ask good questions !
