The Kansas FFA Degree is the highest degree Kansas FFA can bestow upon its members. This week our very own Sydney Doles received this honor! So very proud of you Syd!πŸ’™πŸ’›

To recieve the State FFA Degree a member must.

1. Must have held the Chapter FFA Degree preceding election to the State FFA Degree, have been an active member of the FFA for at least two years and have maintained and completed two consecutive calendar years of record books.

2. Have completed the equivalent or at least two years (360 hours) of systematic school instruction in agricultural education at or above the ninth grade level, which includes a supervised agricultural experience program; if in high school, must be enrolled in an agriculture education course.

3. Receive instruction in and demonstrate proficiency in at least ten parliamentary procedure motions, documented and signed by the chapter advisor and submitted with the application.

4. Demonstrate leadership ability by giving at least a six minute oral presentation or speech on a topic relating to agriculture or the FFA, and serving as an officer and/or committee chairperson or a participating member of a major committee.

5. Have earned and productively invested at least $2,000 by his or her own efforts from a supervised agricultural experience program, or have worked (other than scheduled class time) as least 600 hours. The student may use a combination of both dollars and hours that equal the whole.

6. Demonstrate leadership ability as evidenced by their leadership and cooperation in student, chapter, and community activities, and meet academic outcomes with an average of a β€œC” or better as defined by local superintendent or principal.

7. Have participated in at least eight different kinds of activities above the chapter level, determined by a compiled checklist developed by each district and formulated by the state degree committee.

8. Have participated in at least 25 hours of community service, within at least two different community service activities. These hours are in addition to and cannot be duplicated as paid or unpaid SAE hours.

This week was a fun week for our FFA Chapter as we traveled to Manhattan KS for the 95th Kansas FFA Convention! This week, was a week packed full of member recognition, reflection, Keynote Speakers and lots of FUN. So very proud of these kiddos for their hard work this past year!

Today our FFA Chapter traveled all the way out to Alma KS for the East Central District Livestock Judging, Food Science and Nursery Landscape Contests. It was a very good day for our Middle Schoolers!!!

Today our FFA Members traveled to Prairie View to compete in the Ag Mechanics, Veterinary Science and Floriculture Career Development Events.

Students in Ag Mechanics had to make a Butt Weld with a GMAW and a Lap Weld with a SMAW. They had to identify all the parts that go into a Engine and identify all the different tools used in a shop. They then had to take 2 tests and had to do a Practicum wiring a breaker box, to a light, to a switch.

Students in Vet Science had to take a test. Then they had identify parasites, breeds, Organs, Vet Equipment and Materials, MATH, CONVERSIONS and had to do a practicum demonstrating proper handling and restraint of animals.

Students that participated in the Floriculture CDE had to take a test which involved general knowledge and math, they then had to identify all the different types of flowers, and had to do a practicum over all the general knowledge.

It was a Great Day for our FFA Members.
