Good Afternoon Wellston Families!
I want to express my appreciation to the parents and caregivers who have shown us grace and patience during the afternoon pickup line at the elementary!
I have been in constant contact with Wellston PD and we have been brainstorming to make things safer and smoother for the elementary pickup. Chief Stewart and I met with Dr. Wray today and we discussed how to make things better. So please know we are actively working together to make this process better and safer.
We are looking at some options but a few things we started today included tightening up the cars in both lanes to maximize the amount of cars we can get off of 66B. Chief Stewart was pleased with the results. We had less cars on 66B and for less time. He has asked me to relay the request to turn right onto 66B when exiting if at all possible. This only applies to traffic while there are cars stacked on 66B. If there are not any cars stacked up, resume to normal traffic.
The concern from Chief Stewart, and I 100% agree, is the increased possibility of an accident if cars are going around and into oncoming traffic when cars are stacked up on 66B.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you should have any ideas or concerns. We are here to make Wellston Schools and the community a better place. It’s a team effort!
