We collaborate with Elementary schools in Vermont to create programs that provide authentic, real-world experiences for our students and connect them with their community. Land Learn Fly, formerly known as the Town of Newbury After School Program, began in January 2016. Near the end of 2024 we decided to become our own company, achieving nonprofit status on February 9, 2025. We are a nonprofit com

pany that specializes in after school enrichment for students age five to age 12. We are currently a three star program through Bright Futures, but are in the process of becoming a four star program. collaborates with Elementary schools in Vermont to provide authentic, real-world experiences for our students and to connect them with their community. We hope to make them more aware of the world around them, so that they can make more knowledgeable decisions as they grow. LLFI pride itself in not just providing excellent childcare, but in also giving our students skills and experiences that will help them become a successful, respectful, and informed member of their Vermont community. strives to provide a safe, supportive environment that encourages physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth and development. All adults and children are expected to act appropriately, respectfully, and responsibly. Staff encourage students to learn, play, problem solve, both independently and cooperatively, and explore new ideas and experiences.

Art Week (week 4 of our summer program) began with an Artist Spotlight on Claude Monet. After learning about his style of painting called impressionism, we created watercolor-resist paintings inspired by Monet‘s "Water Lilies". Our next Artist Spotlight was on Vincent van Gogh. We learned that many people did not like his style of art at first, but he kept drawing and painting anyway! We then created mixed-media artwork inspired by van Gogh's "The Starry Night". Our young artists were very focused on their work and enjoyed displaying their creativity!

Science Week (Week 2 of our summer program) was our short week, and we were so busy we didn't take as many pictures as usual!

We had a great time with our delightfully messy and delicious science experiments, which included invisible ink drawings and ice cream in a bag. We also participated in activity stations to learn more about birds, and did a craft project using assorted materials to create our own bird!

We even took a field trip to the Montshire Museum. We had fun exploring all the exhibits, and some of us even got to touch a live snake!

Last week we had a local mural artist, Matt Denton, join us at the summer program for Art Week! Matt and his team designed a mural for Land Learn Fly using ideas and images brainstormed by our students and staff. Students and staff then worked with Matt to paint the mural together. Once the mural is fully finished and ready to go, it will be on the Land Learn Fly shed outside of BMU. There will be an unveiling in the Fall! Amazing work done by all!

Over the course of the week students also did other art projects, studied various artists, and even recreated a painting from Monet!
