Our Elder has sent a heartfelt thank you for those that helped with the services this last week. It was mentioned that it is important for more to step into these positions of cooking, praying, singing, drumming, and helping when our community goes through these losses. It is important that we are here for one another. It is important to remember that even if we may not always get along, ultimately, we are all family. We are Spokane with other blood some of us, but we are here in this community, and it is important we do not let that be forgotten. The cooks were thanked on other posts but again thank you for all that you do in feeding those going through time of loss and sadness. Thank you to Merle and Rawne, Charlene and Charles for helping with the drum.
It is a hope of our Elder to have more of us be inspired to come and take part in these things. it is important we don't forget the ways of our elders. There are some of us that remember how it was before our tupias went to the next place. I believe it is instilled in our hearts. I hope by our remembrance and involvement we are able to put comfort in the hearts of those who have gone on and also comfort our elders that are still with us. Our involvement shows that we will not forget. We will keep our traditions alive.
If you have a pull on your heart to start helping and taking part, please reach out to those you know do help. We can all help each other and give of ourselves. I believe this provides comfort for the families and gives peace to our own hearts knowing we are doing all we can. It is a true reward when you don't expect anything in return and give with your whole heart. If you aren't able to take part, your being present, just being there, can also mean the world to the families. We all have our place. Enjoy your day friends.
