We would like to introduce our new special education teacher joining MPMS and MPHS, Aubrey DePew. Aubrey earned her Secondary English 5-12 degree, SPED Strat I endorsement, and master’s degree in Special Education from Buena Vista University. Outside of school, Aubrey wears a few different hats. She’s a fantasy author (The Last Light Keeper series), a traveler, and a gaming enthusiast. She and her husband just celebrated their first wedding anniversary in June and love hitting the road whenever they can. At home, they share their space with a fish named Toothless and two chaos-causing kittens, Nyx and Artemis. In her quiet time, Aubrey is usually either lost in a book, working on her next novel, or playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox. Leave a comment to help us welcome Aubrey!

What a great way to kick off the week at Mid-Prairie! Our staff brought the energy to our district meeting with an inspiring performance from the MPHS Band and Dance Team, plus a special recognition for MPHS Ag Teacher Elsa Schmidt, who was named the Iowa Association of Agricultural Educators 2026 Outstanding Teacher Mentor!

Next, we would like to introduce Gina Marner, one of our new paraprofessionals joining MP-West Elementary. Gina grew up in Kalona, but lived in Kansas City, Missouri, for 16 years before recently moving back to Iowa. She has enjoyed working with kids in special education classrooms as a substitute paraprofessional for 11 years in various districts and is excited to join a school team full-time. Gina especially enjoys biking, hiking, music, and dogs. Leave a comment to help us welcome Gina!
