I think kids need more places to be unfiltered.

Most of their day asks them to sit still, use the right words, raise their hand, and give the right answer.

Where are the spaces they don’t have to worry about all that?

Improv gives them a space where the weird idea is welcome, the wrong answer can be the beginning of something, and the kid who’s “too much” is exactly enough.

I’ll bet that’s why they say some of the most honest, hilarious, heartwarming, unexpectedly wise things in class.

Kids don’t need every space to teach them how to behave. Sometimes they just need a space to be KIDS!

There’s so much pressure on social media to create the perfect photo of the perfect family fun.

Don’t get me wrong, your girl has Pinterest and will still try the delish-looking recipe or adorable craft (and I just may take a picture or 5). 🙋‍♀️

But don’t miss the moments because they don’t look a certain way or weren’t planned perfectly.

Connection doesn’t need a setup, a supply list, or a cute backdrop. It can be a quick improv game in the car.

Try one of these:

🚗 Yes, And Story: Start a story with one sentence (“Once there was a llama who loved pizza…”). Take turns adding one sentence, always starting with “Yes, and…”

🚗 Bad Advice: Take turns giving the worst possible advice for a normal problem. “How do I brush my teeth?” “Use a fork!”

🚗 Alphabet Conversation: Talk normally, but every sentence must start with the next letter of the alphabet. Kid goes first with A.

Bonus points if you let your kid lead, or laugh when you mess up. 💛

Game inspo from Child’s Play NY! 💛 I saw their “Clams Are Great” game and had to try it with my improv kids.

Everyone finishes the sentence, “Clams are great because…” and the answers had me cracking up. 😂

How it works: Start with a simple sentence starter and have each person jump in with whatever pops into their head. No overthinking. No right answer. The sillier, the better!

And you can swap in ANY prompt:
🍕 “Pizza is amazing because…”
🐶 “Dogs are cool because…”
📚 “School is awesome because…”
😂 Or let the kids come up with the prompt themselves!

Use it for:
🎭 An improv or drama class
🎶 A warm-up before play or musical rehearsal
🧠 A brain break whenever the wiggles hit!
