Come out and join WCS families on Saturday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m. for a night of music, food, and fun for all ages. Our MC for the evening will be WAY FM's Danielle Madsen. We are proud of the community of parents, students, and alumni that we have around us. They created the "Save the High" campaign throughout their Christmas break which included reaching out to local TV news, newspapers, and radio stations. Working together they organized a music concert to benefit the school and invite the public to learn more about our WCS. Admission for the event is $20 for ages 2 and up. We hope you can join us! For more information about the event, please contact Lainie Guthrie at [email protected] and also visit the Event Page at https://www.facebook.com/events/1411661829075291/

Due to widespread flooding and continuing flash flood warnings, Palm Beach County schools are closed today. WCS Policy is to follow county decisions on weather closures to ensure the safety of students and faculty. As a result, WCS is closed for all teachers and staff.

01/06/2014

Due to the weather forecast for tomorrow morning, K-12 students will be allowed to wear plain, blue jeans in addition to their regular uniform choices. If students do not have plain, blue jeans they must wear regular uniform bottoms.

Please note students have appropriate cold weather uniform choices available to them. Tuesday's uniform exception is being made because it has been a warm winter and this is expected to be a very short cold spell. Students should not expect to be able to wear jeans on future cold days should the weather shift to a more generally cool pattern.

Wellington Christian School Seeks Donors

The community of students and parents of Wellington Christian School are engaged in a fundraising drive to save their high school program. As a result of the enrollment decline shared by all private schools during the economic downturn and the slow recovery in enrollment since, operating a strongly college preparatory high school in Wellington has presented a financial burden to the rest of the organization.

The school constituents are currently seeking gifts and contributions of $1.6 million to restore the school to a sustainable level of cash reserves and to restructure the organization to see it continue as the only private Christian school in Wellington. Otherwise, the school will begin the 2014-15 school year continuing the strong program for students from two years old through eighth grade.

Wellington Christian School is a ministry of Wellington Presbyterian Church and has been part of the Wellington community for over thirty years with 500 students and a mission to teach students to be lifelong thinkers, learners, and readers equipped to know and serve God and enjoy him forever. The school families and administration ask any potential supporters to contact the school office (561) 793-1017.

This was written by a parent of one of this year's graduating seniors.

Why did you choose WCS?
I chose WCS for my son because of the family like atmosphere I sensed as soon as I stepped on campus. I loved that it was smaller and once he was in the classroom, the nurturing and true caring for my son was immediately felt. As he moved into MS/HS, the nurturing was different—it has been a mentoring that has moved him from 6th grade to his Senior year. The teachers know him, have counseled him, coached him; understood where he was as a student and person and set an example to help him grow in confidence, stretch himself to try/achieve things that he may never have believed were possible. He is so well prepared for college—I truly believe (like many students before him) he will arrive on whatever campus he chooses and say, “Is this it?” WCS, the teachers throughout every year—have been a part of preparing him spiritually, academically, mentally. He has never been “just another student”. Oh.. and don’t forget the now required "Student Resumes". Colleges will not care if your child attended a school with thousands of students and was among hundreds of kids vying for that spot on the . They want to see the applicants involved, leading. AT WCS, if your child has the desire, the opportunities are there. Could there be more…sure.. but that comes when families commit to stay and grow the school. Higher enrollment and retention means more “stuff” for our kids… but even today—there is so much for them—if they have a desire—there is opportunity. Remember why you chose WCS… choose to stay and be a part of helping to grow the school, insure its future and be the voice that adds those things you may want today for your children but give up because the foundation and academics and what is there today is great—and can be better. We need families to stay and be a part of the growth.
