Jessica Seeliger - USD 353 School Board Member Mom to Harper and Holden. An advocate for my children and yours. I was elected on November 7, 2023. And will take my oath on January 11, 2024.

I am Jessica Seeliger and I am Mom to two amazing kids, Harper an 8th grader at Wellington Middle School, and Holden, a 5th grader at Eisenhower Elementary. I am ran for school board because I believe they, and all USD 353 students, deserve the opportunity to receive a quality education and fulfilling school experience right here in Wellington. As a parent I have been very involved in every aspect

of my kiddos’ school life and have seen firsthand where our district is falling short. As a board member, I want to be an advocate for parents and teachers who want answers, who want change and who want to see our kids succeed both in school and after graduation. I am an advocate for our children who deserve an education that will prepare them up for life after high school, no matter what their plans are.

The USD 353 Board of Education has scheduled a public hearing for Monday, August 24th at 6:00 pm at the WHS auditorium. The purpose is to discuss a proposal to close Washington Elementary School after the 2026-27 school year and adopt the following school boundaries. The meeting will be open to the public and will be live-streamed.

Parents/Guardians. Welcome to the 2026/2027 school year! It was a great 1st day for all middle school students today, and we are looking forward to a great year. To ensure you stay up-to-date on all things middle school, please make sure you are receiving messages on Connect/School Status. If you are not currently receiving messages, please go to our district website at www.usd353.com and under the "enrollment" tab click on "parent portal account activation request." Once you have completed this step, it should generate your School Status/Connect account. If you have any questions about this process, feel free to contact the WMS office for help! I don't remember a year where it rained on the first day of school. I’m choosing to believe it's a sign of good luck for the year ahead! A sign of renewal, growth and a fresh start.

Reminder of Special Meeting:

The Kansas State Board of Education will meet, Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 9 a.m. at the Docking State Office Building, 915 SW Harrison Street, Room 346 (The Cherokee Room) to discuss potential policy on classroom technology use.

The session is open to the public.
