Wellesley Community Children's Center’s Early Childhood Program has one opening beginning September 9, 2026. The ECP is a highly-rated, twelve month program open from 7:30am-5:45pm Monday-Friday. We are located in a lovely building on the Wellesley College campus with stellar outdoor areas.

Orange Room (pre-k classroom): Monday-Friday space for a child who will be 4+ years old on September 1, 2026. (Plans for a re-locating family fell through leaving us with this unexpected opening.)

The Purple Room children had a blast during their recent trips to Morses Pond. For all of them, it was their first-ever school bus ride, which made the experience even more exciting! The children thoroughly enjoyed having snacks on the beach and playing in the water and sand. We still have four more trips scheduled and cannot wait to enjoy more beach days ahead.

The Yellow Room children became gardeners, scientists, and caretakers as they planted, observed, cared for and played with their very own classroom grass garden. First the children planted their own cups of grass seed, then they used scissors to give their growing grass a haircut. The cups of grass were then transplanted into a large sensory table full of garden soil where they could continue to explore the natural world through play.

Giving back is an important part of our DEIB curriculum at our After School Program. Each year, children at each of our sites lead the development of two meaningful community projects. Through thoughtful conversations, they explore the importance of embracing differences, building empathy, and identifying ways to make a positive impact in their communities.

This spring, our six sites took on a variety of inspiring projects, including:
- Cleaning up school grounds and playgrounds
- Repairing soccer nets on the field
- Creating and placing kindness rocks around our schools and community
- Building a community library by decorating the book box and donating books for others to enjoy

We're proud of the thought, teamwork, and care our children brought to each project. These experiences help them see how they can contribute to their communities and make a meaningful impact.

Our Leadership Program made a BIG impact this year in our After School Program!
At Fiske, our young leaders identified a need in their school community and took action. They developed a proposal to replace the soccer nets, presented their idea to Principal McGregor, and engaged in a thoughtful discussion about their plan. Once approved, they rolled up their sleeves and installed the new nets themselves, improving the field for their classmates and the wider community!
At Schofield, leadership came to life through mentorship and service. Our 3rd–5th graders planned and led engaging activities for K–2nd graders, from creating custom fidgets to hosting painting lessons. They also took the lead on our spring community project, leading a school playground cleanup and creating a "Change Makers" mural that reminds every child they have the power to make a difference in their community and beyond.
We are so proud of these young leaders for stepping up, giving back, and inspiring others through their creativity, teamwork, and dedication. We can’t wait to see all of our sites bring the leadership program to life next year and watch the incredible impact the children will make as they continue to lead, serve, and create positive change in their school communities and beyond!

The Orange Room loves building and constructing! All year long, we have observed this interest and decided to add some engineering, literacy and math skills to the building activities. We introduced the concept of blueprints and how to draw and make a plan before constructing. Once the blueprint is complete, we incorporated a four step process in building. Plan, Create, Test, and Improve. This process has helped the children use teamwork skills to Plan and Create and use problem solving skills in the Test and Improve steps. We look forward to a summer of creativity and construction!

Happy end of the school year from WCCC ASP! Lately, our sites have been soaking up the sunshine, spending time with each other, and enjoying plenty of fun as we get ready for summer. From outdoor adventures to exciting activities, there’s been lots of laughter and memorable moments along the way! As the school year comes to a close, we're also taking a moment to celebrate all the amazing experiences we've shared together. Thank you to everyone for making this year so special. The Nature Room children hiked to the Edible Garden on the Wellesley College campus, binoculars around their necks, on the lookout for birds. The class has been learning how to identify common birds in the area by their physical features and their calls. They utilized the New England Bird Guide Book as a reference to identify any birds we couldn’t recognize. The children enjoyed searching together for different birds and documenting what they found in their nature journals. Later, all the kids enjoyed sharing their findings, comparing notes to friends and chatting about how cool birds are!
