Secular Wellesley Wellesley College's community for the exploration of atheism, humanism, agnosticism, and other secul

We are a group of Wellesley students united in discovering the world through secular life philosophies. Historically, we have met weekly in Wellesley's Multifaith Center to discuss a range of topics from science to ethics to politics to all the other places in our lives where our beliefs/non-beliefs shape our understanding of the world. We are committed to making our meetings a safe and judgement-

free space on Wellesley's campus for all atheists, agnostics, humanists, skeptics, and anybody who is questioning their faith. We are also open to anybody with questions about why we believe what we do. We are about exploration within our faithless framework, not mocking anyone else's faith. We do not believe we have the world figured out just because we reject religion; there are so many questions about the universe we have, and we have just scratched the surface of them. The focuses for the 2017-18 school year include secularism in politics, science, ethics/moral judgement, and society. Our student president is Multifaith Council Representative Mia Tuccillo '20, but officers and Faculty Advisor for the 2017-18 school year are yet to be determined. Boy has this semester gotten off to a rocky start. But not to fret. Elise will put in the 25live request for our usual meeting space soon (Wednesdays 5:30-6:30 in the MFC Study) and we'll start having meetings and donuts and good times quick!

In related news, Elise is joining the Humanist Community at Harvard for a Darwin Day celebration - super excited to talk to Greg Epstein afterwards about how he approaches community organizing among seculars and what leadership development looks like in atheist communities. Even more super excited to put what Greg talks about into action here at Wellesley!

My Thing Is: Let’s lose the lazy, media-fueled assumption that being black equals being hyper-religious. I’m a very morally grounded African-American man who doesn’t believe in God. Why is that so hard to grasp?
