💨⚡ Hands-on learning in action with Ms. Shirley and Dr. Phelps in 3rd-grade! 💨⚡

📚After reading It’s All About the Wind, students brought their learning to life through an engaging STEM and literacy project by designing and building their own wind farms using a variety of maker space materials. Using cardboard, craft sticks, recycled materials, paint, and more, students created detailed models featuring wind turbines, solar panels, roads, water, and green spaces. 🌎💡

As they built, students explored how renewable energy can power homes and communities while helping protect our environment. They also strengthened literacy skills by writing about how their wind farms work, why renewable energy is important, and the design choices they made along the way.

We love seeing our Mountain Lions use creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and writing to show their learning in meaningful ways! 🐾 🩵👏

📢 Reminder to families that tomorrow is our last day of our K-3 after school tutoring program! 🐾

Mrs. Perkins’ Pre-K class at Coalfield Elementary enjoyed some fun in the sun earlier in the week along with lots of bubble fun! ☀️🫧 Our little learners had a blast playing, laughing, and making special memories together.

Did you know? Research shows that young children learn best through play! Play helps Pre-K students build important skills like communication, problem-solving, creativity, and social development while having fun at the same time. 🩵🐾

🎒🐾Our youngest Mountain Lions are getting ready for their next big adventure — Kindergarten! ✏️🍎

🗣️This week, our Pre-K students continued their transition activities to help prepare for next year. On Thursday, students had the opportunity to tour a kindergarten classroom, meet the kindergarten teachers, and enjoy a fun read aloud from the kindergarten team! 📚✨

Throughout the week, students also practiced eating lunch in the cafeteria to help them become more comfortable and confident with their new routines for next year. A special thank you to our amazing cafeteria staff for preparing lunches for our students and helping make this transition experience so successful! 🍽️

🩵We are so proud of how excited and brave our future kindergarteners are as they get ready for this next journey! A huge thank you to our Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Title team for working together to plan these transition experiences early and help make the move to kindergarten a positive and successful one for every student. 🫶👏🐾

☀️Make a splash this summer, Mountain Lions! 💦🏊

📢Local swim team sign-ups will be held this Saturday! Joining swim team is a great way for students to stay active, build confidence, make new friends, and have fun all summer long! 🏊‍♂️✨

🍎➡️🐾BIG steps for our future Kindergarten Mountain Lions!

Today, our Pre-K students got a special chance to practice one of the many exciting parts of school— eating lunch in the cafeteria where they’ll dine next year as Kindergarteners! 🍕🥗

From carrying trays to finding seats and practicing cafeteria expectations, our little learners did an amazing job building confidence and independence for their transition to Kindergarten. We are so proud of how brave, responsible, and excited they were during this important milestone! 🌟

At Coalfield Elementary, we love creating opportunities that help our students feel comfortable, confident, and ready for their next adventure. Kindergarten, here they come! 🎒✨
