It's tiiiiiimmmeeeee!
2026 McDowell County 4-H Camp Presents: Lights, Camera, 4-H! Join us for an unforgettable week filled with adventure, fun, and learning! This isn’t just any camp—it’s where the magic of 4-H meets the thrill of discovering your passions and making new friends.
This camp will serve youth exiting 3rd-12th grade.
All Youth (3rd-12th grade) will arrive on Sunday morning at 10:00 am. Pick up will begin on Thursday at 10:00 am.
The cost of camp is $40 for all youth participants. Camp Scholarships are available upon request. Payment will be taken at Camp Sign-in.
At "Lights, Camera, 4-H! : McDowell County 4-H Camp," you’ll make memories that last a lifetime. With a fantastic lineup of activities, caring adults, and the chance to meet new friends, this camp is the place to be. Whether you’re experiencing your favorite genre of film, exploring new interests, or just enjoying the great outdoors, you’re in for a summer experience you’ll never forget.

The McDowell County Extension Office will be having our annual Extension Service Committee meeting this Friday, February 27th, 2026 in Welch at The Renaissance Village Community Room at 6:00pm. We will also have a zoom link for anyone who is wanting to attend but cannot make it in person. This meeting is open to the public, so anyone is welcome to attend. 🍀Looking for people who are interested in and are passionate about positive youth development and helping shape young minds! The McDowell County Extension Office is hiring a part time program assistant, and it might be a good fit for you!
🍀Position Details:
Part-time Program Assistant (8.5 months):
* School diploma plus up to 18 months of technical or vocational training related to the position in which assigned.
* A minimum of 6 months of experience working with youth and/or adult audiences with community organizations or volunteer.
* Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
* All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
* Position is 28 hours a week, 7 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Thursday. (Flexible to change)

🍀💚As we come to the end of National 4-H week, the McDowell County Extension Office wants to thank everyone who has participated in this weeks activities, everyone who submitted their entries for our recognitions, and every other person out there who has volunteered with, helped out, or participated in McDowell County 4-H! None of what we do would be possible without each and every one of you; from our amazing camp cooks and staff, to parent volunteers, to community partners, past agents, and last but certainly not least, all of our wonderful youth who always go above and beyond in everything they do. We can’t wait for what this new 4-H year will bring us, and we hope to see all of you back again this year!💚🍀
