Thank you, Hancock County, for your votes, your support, and for believing in me. I am honored to have been elected to the Hancock County Board of Education.

Here’s a breakdown of how the election worked:

🥇Jeff Woofter (Clay District)
🥈Melissa Bane (Clay District)
❌Incumbent James Horstman (Clay District; cannot win because no more than 2 candidates can serve from the same district at one time and 2 from Clay got more votes)
🥉Tiffany Gale (Butler)

I’m excited to get to work advocating for strong public education, supporting students and teachers, and helping build the best possible future for Hancock County Schools. Thank you again for trusting me with this opportunity.

How the Hancock County Board of Education Election Works

This election can feel confusing, so here’s the simple breakdown:

✔️ You can vote for up to 3 candidates total from ANY district

📍 Butler District (Tiffany Gale, Michael Phelps)
There is already one current board member from Butler finishing their term.
➡️ That means:
Only ONE more person from Butler can win
It’s also possible that no Butler candidate wins at all (because Butler is already represented)

📍 Grant District(Zach Adams, David Brown, Curt Parkins, Seth Cheuvrout)
There is already one current board member from Grant finishing their term.
➡️ That means:
Only ONE more person from Grant can win
It’s also possible that no Grant candidate wins at all (because Grant is already represented)

📍 Clay District(Jeff Woofter, Melissa Bane, Jim Horstman)
➡️ This is the most important part:
At least ONE person from Clay MUST win (the board is required to have representation from Clay)
Up to TWO people from Clay could win

⚠️ If two Clay candidates win, it could take a spot away from Butler or Grant candidates

In simple terms:
You pick up to 3 people
Clay is guaranteed at least 1 winner
Butler & Grant may or may not get a winner depending on how votes fall

Reminder: This race is ONLY on the Primary ballot (May 12, 2026)! Don’t miss your chance to vote!
