Canvas Creations at Chocachatti
Just wanted to share our first week of Micro Society at Chocachatti.
Day one: we talked about why we have micro and that it teaches us real life experiences in setting up a business and working at a job. We brainstormed goals for our venture to help create our mission statement. Then we discussed different positions within our business and various duties for each role. Next students chose their first and second choices and we allowed the candidates for manager to manage the room as it got unruly. I let the kids vote for who did best in that role and announced our new manager and allowed the other two candidates to be assistant managers when needed.
Day two: we started with a fun color game to teach the kids about primary, secondary, tertiary, warm & cool and complementary colors. We also talked about color mixing so they know how to make colors when we paint. Next the students wrote down the mission statement and their job duties for their particular position. They learned and practiced their roles for each position. Our manager learned to oversee the room, customer service learned how to take orders and make change, door greeters put out the open/closed sign and greeted and guided our customers, set up crew passed out supplies and team shirts and learned how to host the 3D art show, advertising worked on creating a new logo and cleaned up the room, bookkeepers did attendance and practiced doing payroll.
Day 3: we all had to pretend we were open and practiced doing payroll our jobs. I did a final video of how amazing they’re doing as well. MicroSociety
