✨ Week 1 at Bright Horizons Academy! ✨

What an amazing start to our 2026–2027 school year! 💙

Our first week was all about building relationships, learning our routines, getting comfortable in our space, and creating a strong classroom community—with plenty of learning and fun mixed in along the way!

📚 We read and explored new books
🧠 Worked together on problem-solving challenges
✏️ Practiced academic skills through games and activities
🔬 Put our creativity to the test with hands-on STEM challenges
🎨 Built, created, and experimented
🤝 Practiced teamwork and collaboration
🏃 Took movement breaks and learned through play
❤️ And most importantly, started building friendships and feeling at home at Bright Horizons!

One of my favorite things about our small-group environment is that learning can look different for every child. Sometimes it happens around a table, sometimes curled up with a good book on the couch, and sometimes on the floor working together to solve a challenge.

Week 1 was full of learning, laughter, creativity, and connection—and we’re just getting started!

💛 A little Bright Horizons update… 💛

The response to our first few days of school has honestly been incredible. I’ve already had several families reach out about joining Bright Horizons, and I am so incredibly grateful for the interest, support, and excitement surrounding our little school! 🥹

Our elementary groups are currently full, and I’ve started a wait list for families who are interested in joining us if a spot becomes available. We do currently have a couple of spots available in our 6th–8th grade group, so if you have a middle schooler and have been looking for a home school option, I’d love to hear from you!

But one of the things I’m most excited about is looking ahead to next school year. ❤️

My hope is to expand Bright Horizons into a larger location for the 2027–28 school year, allowing us to offer more spots, potentially add additional groups, and hopefully bring additional teachers onto our team. I would love to be able to serve more home school families while still maintaining the small, personalized environment that makes Bright Horizons special.

I wish I had the space and availability to say YES to every family who has reached out already, but I’m also incredibly encouraged by the interest because it shows me that there is a real need for what we’re building. ❤️

I’m doing my very best to respond to everyone who has reached out as quickly as I can. There have been quite a few messages and inquiries over these first few days, and I am truly so grateful for every single one! If you’ve messaged me and I haven’t gotten back to you yet, please know I will as soon as I can. 🥰

TOMORROW IS THE FIRST DAY of the 2026–2027 school year at Bright Horizons Academy! ☀️💙

We are SO excited to welcome our students back and begin another year filled with curiosity, growth, friendship, hands-on learning, and so many memories. ✨

There’s just something special about this time of year—the fresh school supplies, new backpacks, first-day pictures, nervous excitement, and all the possibilities that come with a brand-new school year. 📚✏️🍎

✨ I finally made our school shirts, and I am so excited with how they turned out! 💙💛

There’s something special about seeing the vision for Bright Horizons Academy come to life. These shirts will be worn on field trips, special events, and school days, helping our students feel like part of our little school family.

📢 Step Up Scholarship Families – Important Action Required!

If your child has been awarded a Step Up for Students scholarship, please log into your EMA (Education Market Assistant) account and complete your Quarter 1 Attestation as soon as possible.

✅ This is a new requirement for the 2026–2027 school year. Parents/guardians must complete this attestation each quarter to be considered for scholarship funding. The attestation simply confirms that your child is not enrolled full-time in a public school and only takes a minute to complete.

Important Deadlines:
📅 August 15, 2026 – To be considered for the August scholarship payment.
📅 September 15, 2026 – To be considered for the September scholarship payment.

⚠️ Waiting until the deadline could delay your scholarship funding, so I encourage everyone to complete it as soon as possible.

If your child attended public school during the 2025–2026 school year, please make sure they have been officially withdrawn. Step Up may request documentation verifying the withdrawal if needed.

📚✨ The curriculum is arriving, and we couldn’t be more excited! ✨📚

One of the best parts of preparing for a new school year is watching our learning resources come together! Every curriculum selection at Bright Horizons Academy has been carefully chosen to provide all 18 students with a strong academic foundation while keeping learning engaging, hands-on, and meaningful.

This year’s students will be learning with:
🍎 Logic of English
📖 IEW Writing & Fix It! Grammar
➕ Math with Confidence
➕Math-U-See
✍️ Handwriting Without Tears
📚 Award-winning novel studies
🧩 Hands-on math manipulatives and interactive learning materials

We’re still waiting on a few backordered items (expected before school begins), and our middle school math curriculum will be ordered after placement assessments so each student is placed in the course that’s just right for them.

Every book, lesson, and activity has been intentionally selected to help students build confidence, think critically, and develop a love of learning.

We can’t wait to welcome our students in just a few weeks! 💙

☀️ Summer Learning Tip!

Learning doesn’t have to stop just because school is out!

One of the best things you can do to help your child retain what they’ve learned is to keep learning short, fun, and consistent. Just 20–30 minutes a day can make a big difference!

📚 Try one or two of these each day:
• Read together or independently
• Practice math with a game or real-life activity
• Write in a journal about the day’s adventures
• Visit the library and let your child choose their own books
• Explore nature and talk about what you discover
• Cook together and practice measuring, fractions, and following directions

Remember—children learn best when they’re curious, engaged, and having fun. Small moments of learning today build confidence for tomorrow!
