🌟 Bright Horizons Academy | Weeks 7 & 8 Recap! 🌟

The past two weeks have been full of learning, creativity, hands-on activities, and exciting accomplishments! 📚🍂🎃 Our students have been working hard, finishing projects, and diving into new topics across all three groups!

🍁 K–2
Our youngest learners have been busy strengthening their reading, writing, and math skills through lessons and activities tailored to their learning levels! We also explored the science behind why leaves change colors in the fall and brought our learning to life with a fun fall-inspired craft! 🍂🎨

📚 3rd–5th Grade
Our upper elementary students have had an exciting couple of weeks!

* ✅ Finished their math projects and continued building math skills, with our 3rd graders focusing on multiplication and our 5th graders exploring decimal place value.
* 📖 Wrapped up Because of Winn-Dixie with creative lapbook book reports!
* 🤖 Began our next novel, The Wild Robot!
* 🎃 Discovered the science behind why pumpkins are orange and put their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test with a fun pumpkin STEM building challenge!

🔬 6th–8th Grade Innovators
Our middle school students have been busy combining academics, creativity, and hands-on learning!

* ✅ Completed their math projects, showcasing the skills they’ve been working on.
* 📖 Finished Wonder with a creative yearbook project inspired by the novel!
* 📚 Started our newest novel, Among the Hidden!
* 🏡 Continued exploring Florida pioneer life and built their own pioneer cabins!
* 🌡️ Kicked off our physical science unit by learning about heat and exploring new scientific concepts!

💙🩵 Learning looks different for every student, and that’s what makes Bright Horizons so special! We love seeing our students grow in confidence, challenge themselves, get creative, and make connections between what they’re learning and the world around them.

We are so proud of all the hard work our students have put in over these past two weeks and can’t wait for more learning adventures ahead!

✨ Week 6 at Bright Horizons Academy! ✨

Another busy week full of learning, hands-on activities, and fun! 📚🍎🧪

Our K–2 group continued building their reading and math skills, completed a super fun Dancing Raisins science lab, explored chain reactions through STEM building, and learned about Florida pioneers.

Our 3–5 group officially finished reading Because of Winn-Dixie! 🐶 They also worked on their math projects, learned about the Constitution, completed an apple oxidation science lab, and enjoyed some much-needed time learning and playing outside. 🍎🌳

Our 6–8 group is wrapping up Wonder, worked hard on their math projects, completed an apple oxidation lab, took on an apple packaging STEM challenge, and learned about the Bill of Rights.

We love seeing our students learn through a mix of academics, experiments, projects, discussion, and hands-on experiences each week. 💙

We’re hiring at Bright Horizons Academy! 🌟

I’m looking for an additional part-time classroom assistant to help with my K–2 and 3–5 groups during the school day. This would be a great opportunity for a responsible high school student who loves working with kids, is interested in education/childcare, or just wants a consistent part-time job with daytime hours.

You’d be helping with things like small groups, centers, classroom routines, behavior support, hands-on activities, and giving students extra help when needed.

$15/hour • 16.25 hours/week • Spring Hill/Weeki Wachee area

I’m mainly looking for someone who is dependable, caring, patient, and willing to jump in and help. Experience is a plus, but I’m definitely open to the right high school student who is mature and great with kids.

✨ Week 5 at Bright Horizons Academy! ✨

Another fun and busy week of learning is in the books! 💙

🔴 K–2 celebrated National Dot Day with lots of hands-on fun! We practiced math by using M&Ms to create bar graphs, made some creative dot-inspired art, and completed a building challenge using dot candy. 🍎 We also began studying apples with apple volcanoes, apple investigations, and apple suncatchers!

📚 3rd–5th Grade continued reading Because of Winn-Dixie and even got to watch part of the movie! We learned about similes and metaphors and had our very first Blooket challenge! 🎮 We also traveled back in time to learn about Florida pioneers and discussed whether we think we could have survived pioneer life. We ended the week enjoying some much-needed outside time at dismissal! ☀️

🌟 Middle School is finishing up Wonder and watched the movie this week as well. They worked hard on their reading and math lessons and are getting ready to begin some fun projects next week! They also had their first Blooket challenge, comparing the book to the movie. 🎬📖

🐝🍯 Bee Farm Photo Dump! 🍯🐝

Yesterday was such a fun day with our Bright Horizons crew! 💛 We learned all about bees, held bee frames, let bees drink honey right off our fingers, tasted different kinds of honey, and learned about all the amazing ways honey can be good for us.

Of course, we also had to visit all the farm friends — the pig, goat, chickens, roosters, and geese! 🐷🐐🐔🪿

Such a fun hands-on learning day and so many sweet memories made! 🐝☀️🍯

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families forever impacted, and the brave first responders who showed incredible courage in the face of tragedy. 🇺🇸

May we continue to teach the next generation about compassion, courage, unity, and the importance of remembering our history.

✨ Week 4 at Bright Horizons! ✨

It was a short week, but we still fit in lots of learning and fun! 💙

🐝 Our K–2 group learned all about bee pollination and had so much fun with our Cheeto pollination activity! We also spent plenty of time practicing reading and math skills.

📚 Our 3rd–5th graders continued reading Because of Winn-Dixie, worked on their reading and math lessons, and watched The Magic School Bus: In a Beehive to go along with our bee theme. They also practiced two-digit addition and subtraction with a fun game of Leaf Fight! 🍂

📖 Our 6th–8th graders continued reading Wonder, worked hard on their reading and math lessons, and completed a fun Honeycomb Challenge that had them using teamwork and problem-solving skills.

🏆 To finish out the week, both our 3rd–5th and 6th–8th groups had a friendly Minute to Win It competition! There was lots of laughing, cheering, and friendly competition to end the week on a fun note.

Even with a shorter week, we still accomplished so much! I’m so proud of all the hard work our students are putting in each week. 💛

And now we’re ready for our Bee Farm field trip tomorrow! 🐝🌻

Week 3 at Bright Horizons Academy! 💙

Another great week of learning is in the books! We worked on reading, writing, handwriting, math, phonics, compound words, grammar, and plenty of hands-on practice this week.

We also had some fun learning about the bee life cycle 🐝 and wrapped it up with our bee life cycle crowns for our youngest group!

One of my favorite things about Bright Horizons is that learning looks a little different throughout the day — sometimes we’re working at the table, sometimes we’re on the floor with games or manipulatives, sometimes we’re curled up reading, and sometimes we’re up moving and learning together.

Four weeks in and our little learning community is really starting to come together. 🥰
