Bender Safety & Training Corporation is growing, and we are looking to add qualified instructors to our team!

These are **part-time / casual instructor positions** with scheduling based on available classes, programs, and instructor availability.

We are currently looking for:

🚑 EMS Instructors
• BLS / EMT Instructors
• ALS / AEMT & Paramedic Instructors

❤️ CPR & Community Training Instructors
• CPR / AED
• First Aid
• BLS
• Stop the Bleed

🏥 NAEMT Instructors
• AMLS
• EPC
• ITLS / Trauma-related programs
• Other NAEMT disciplines

🚒 Emergency Services Instructors
• EVDT / VFIS Instructors
• Fire Service Instructors

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL INSTRUCTORS:

Applicants must have or be willing to obtain all required clearances/documentation, including:

• Act 34 – Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
• Act 151 – Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
• Act 114 / FBI Federal Criminal Background Check
• Act 126 – Child Abuse Recognition & Reporting Training
• Act 24 – Arrest/Conviction Report & Certification
• Current TB Test

Applicants should also:

💻 Be comfortable using Google Workspace, including Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Drive, Gmail, and similar platforms.

🚗 Be willing to travel to training locations throughout our service area. Travel limitations are completely understandable and can be discussed based on your availability.

📚 Maintain any certifications, licenses, provider credentials, or instructor credentials required for the courses you teach.

🤝 Be dependable, professional, organized, and comfortable working with students from a variety of backgrounds, including high school students and adult learners.

Prior teaching experience is preferred, but we are also interested in individuals who have the knowledge and credentials to teach and want to become more involved in education.

These are part-time / casual positions and may be a great opportunity for EMS professionals, firefighters, nurses, healthcare professionals, and public safety educators looking to teach around their existing work schedules.

At Bender Safety & Training Corporation, much of what we do revolves around saving lives.

We teach people how to perform CPR.
How to control bleeding.
How to recognize an emergency.
How to care for the sick and injured.
How to walk into someone else’s worst day and help.

But there is another side of emergency care that does not get talked about nearly enough.

The EMT who still remembers the face of a patient they could not save.

The firefighter who went home after performing CPR and was expected to be “fine.”

The healthcare worker who has watched more people die than most people will in a lifetime.

The family member sitting beside a hospital bed, trying to stay strong while someone they love gets sicker.

The caregiver who is exhausted but feels guilty admitting it.

The person who everyone depends on, who quietly wonders who they are supposed to depend on.

September is Su***de Prevention Month.

So throughout September, BSTC is going to do something a little different.

Every day, we will share a thought about mental health, su***de prevention, grief, burnout, emergency services, caregiving, loss, and the things people often carry without saying out loud.

Some posts will be encouraging.

Some may be difficult.

Some may make you stop for a second and think.

And maybe one of them will reach somebody on the exact day they need it.

Because saving a life is not always CPR, a tourniquet, a medication, or an ambulance.

Sometimes saving a life starts with noticing that someone is struggling.

Sometimes it starts with a conversation.

And sometimes it starts by reminding someone that they do not have to carry everything alone.

Our 2026 EMT students are officially wrapping up their clinical experiences! 🚑💙

Yesterday marks the final clinical shift for one of our students, and what a way to finish out this part of the program.

Clinical time gives EMT students the opportunity to step outside the classroom, work alongside experienced healthcare and EMS professionals, and see firsthand how the pieces they have spent months learning come together in the real world. Some shifts are routine, and some give students experiences they will remember for the rest of their careers.

We are incredibly proud of how far our 2026 EMT students have come. From their first day in the classroom to completing patient contacts, clinical hours, skills, testing, and everything in between, they have put in a tremendous amount of work.

The classroom may teach the foundation, but experiences like these are where future EMTs begin to understand what it truly means to care for someone on one of the worst days of their life.

Congratulations on completing your clinicals! One more step closer. ❤️🚑

Bender Safety & Training Corporation has another fundraiser underway, and this one should be a fun one.

Tickets are just $5 each, and the drawing will be held December 19, 2026.

The winner will receive a wheelbarrow with $500 total in gift certificates:

🚑 OUR NEXT EMT PROGRAM HAS OFFICIALLY KICKED OFF! 🚑

We are excited to announce that our next Emergency Medical Technician program is now underway at Johnsonburg Area High School!

We want to wish the juniors and seniors participating in the program the very best of luck as they begin what will be a challenging, hands-on, and rewarding journey.

These students will complete at least 178.5 hours of classroom and skills education, along with hands-on labs and clinical rotations, as they prepare to provide high-quality emergency medical care in their communities.

Throughout the program, students will learn about:

• EMS systems and operations
• Workforce safety and wellness
• Medical, legal, and ethical responsibilities
• Communication and patient documentation
• Medical terminology and human anatomy
• Patient assessment and BLS resuscitation
• Lifting, moving, and transporting patients
• Airway management
• Pharmacology and medication principles
• Shock and medical emergencies
• Respiratory and cardiovascular emergencies
• Neurologic, gastrointestinal, urologic, endocrine, and hematologic emergencies
• Toxicology, allergies, and anaphylaxis
• Behavioral health emergencies
• Care of patients with special challenges
• Gynecologic emergencies
• Trauma assessment and management
• Bleeding control and soft tissue injuries
• Chest, face, neck, head, and spinal injuries
• Abdominal and orthopedic injuries
• Environmental emergencies
• Obstetrics and neonatal care
• Pediatric and geriatric emergencies
• Vehicle extrication and special rescue
• Terrorism response and disaster management
• Incident management
• National Registry preparation
• State and National Registry requirements

And that is only part of it.

Students will also participate in numerous hands-on skills days, simulation activities, clinical rotations, National Registry preparation, and even a pig dissection lab to reinforce anatomy and physiology.

Becoming an EMT takes commitment. These students will spend months studying, practicing skills, completing clinical experiences, testing, and preparing for certification.

We are proud to give local high school students the opportunity to begin their EMS education before graduation and potentially enter the workforce already prepared to serve their communities.

JASD STUDENTS: If you are interested in joining the EMT program, tomorrow is the final day to make changes to your school schedule. We are willing to accommodate additional interested students and get you added to the program if possible. Please reach out to your guidance counselor as soon as possible if you would like to participate.
