Outdoor Adventure Program
This summer, students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature while exploring beautiful outdoor areas within their own community. For many students, these were places they otherwise would not have been able to access due to transportation limitations or not having an adult available to accompany them.
Beyond simply getting outside, the group provided an opportunity for students to enjoy one anotherโs company, build relationships, and develop a greater sense of connection to their local environment. Throughout our outings, students practiced both self-responsibility and group care, learning to move at a pace that supported the whole group, look out for one another, and practice acceptance and respect for each personโs unique personality, needs, and abilities.
Students also learned and practiced Leave No Trace principles, developing an understanding of how to enjoy natural spaces while caring for and protecting them. Overall, the program gave students an opportunity to experience adventure, connection, responsibility, and belonging while gaining greater access to the incredible natural resources available in our community.
