Webster Community, I hope you have had the opportunity to understand what I stand for and why I am running for WCSD BOE. As most of us saw at the recent board meeting, members of this community are hurting. I believe the reason it got to that level was a cry for help from parents. I want my kids back in school full time, I want mask mandates to be voluntary, I want the community of Webster to feel they have a voice along with an advocate on this board. I am not afraid to speak up for what is in the best interests of our students, to be held accountable and force others on the board to be held to that same standard. Please vote #5 tomorrow at Webster Schroeder HS 6:00am-9pm.

EMAIL To PARENTS; Acute Kids Pediatric Urgent Care's COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic for WCSD Students (ages 12+) & Parents/Guardians

MY EMAIL to SUP/BOE;
A few extremely concerned parents would like clarification. If this push for vaccine is not sponsored by WCSD why is this being offered on school property. Additionally, a limited amount of parents or family members can attend their children's games, or school plays, yet you are allowing multiple family members in the school for this purpose?
I/they would also like to know why Acute Care? Who is financially benefitting from this alliance, there are several other Urgent Care facilities or private companies offering the vaccines.
The optics of this set up just exasperates the unfavorable perception of the Webster School District. There are several members of the community concerned children will be mandated to get this vaccine to receive an education, this does not ease their worries by hosting it on public school property.
The flu vaccine has never been offered by public schools….

On April 19th, I FOIL' d the district to gain access to each candidate’s signed petitions along with the name of the person who withdrew. On Monday I received all I asked for. Ok, so what did I find, Joe Rieger withdrew his candidacy on April 19th around 4pm. I do not know the reasons for his withdrawal, but I do know he and Carm had a relationship which shows how Carm Gumina stacks the board in his favor. Unacceptable.
What I found more interesting was that two pages of Joe Rieger's and Sue Casey's petitions were the same, I thought OMG, these are photocopied. Literally, page 6&7 of Sue's petitions is identical to Joe's page 1&2. I immediately emailed the BOE and Monroe County School Board Association. Cindy quickly got back to me to point out very small differences indicating they were not photocopied. I reached out to an acquaintance that had signed both petitions to understand the circumstances, she stated Carm Gumina came to her house to get signatures for both candidates. Though this is not illegal is it unethical, the BOE is supposed to be the super's boss, not him choosing his boss. According to the AASA.ORG.;(the school superintendents association)
Overall, the superintendent must appear at arm’s length from the recruitment of board members and even more importantly refrain any partisan involvement in the public election. Even if the results don’t go the way the superintendent wants, the superintendent still has an opportunity to work with the new member to bring him or her on board.
I and the other candidates of this ballot did not have the luxury of having the super get us 30 of our required 73 signatures. Even if you are not voting for me, Please vote NO FOR SUE CASEY.

I was asked these questions on a Webster Site, below are my answers.
1. Do you believe that science should guide the reopening of schools?
2. What are your thoughts on vaccination requirements in the schools?
3. Do you have an opinion on the passport idea?
4. Are you concerned about the lack of diversity in our schools with students and staff?
5. Do you support BLM?
6. How do you see the board supporting and advocating for Black, Asian, and students of Color in our district?
7. Will you join the Districts Families Igniting Racial Equity group (FIRE)that has been around for 2 and half years? There are a few current BOE members already on it.

1. The initial purpose of shutting everything down over a year ago was to not overwhelm the health care system. We are now at a point that is no longer an issue. I also believe it depends on who you listen to, as to what science you subscribe to. The science I hear and believe is that children are not the issue with the spread of COVID, according to CDC - Beyond getting sick, many young people’s social, emotional, and mental well-being has been impacted by the pandemic. Trauma faced at this developmental stage can continue to affect them across their lifespan. This is why I want school open full time. If a parent does not feel safe there are alternative learning opportunities. 2. Vaccination requirements in school, at this point there is only one vaccine that is approved (not FDA approved) for children 12 and up. I do not think any parent should feel forced to vaccinate their children so they can get an education. I am not an anti-vaccinator, my children have received all required vaccines. There has been time to show the effects of such vaccines while the COVID vaccine has not, for instance MMR was released in 1963. 3. PASSPORT - My opinion is no, currently the US Government says there are no plans to make vaccine passports broadly mandatory. I have read several articles on the Yellow Fever of the early 19th century (I suggest people look into this). Similar lessons could be learned on how people were identified as "acclimated" or "not acclimated" for us today that would be "vaccinated" or "not vaccinated". Being acclimated meant access to jobs, credit, housing and improved social status. To be unacclimated meant lower status and stagnation. I fear this is where we are going, further creating the divide in our country. 4. Yes, according to NYSED 2019 the diversity amongst Webster staff is as follows; White 668/Hispanic 3/Native Hawaiian 1/Asian 1 Black African American 1. This is unacceptable. The district must do a better job if they are going to sell supporting diversity, inclusion and equity to hire a more diverse staff. 5. Here we go....BLM is a decentralized political and social movement protesting against incidents of police brutality. Yet, there seems to be several questions on what BLM does with it's millions of dollars in donations. The mother of Breonna Taylor, a women alleged to be killed by police in KY went to the media stating she has not seen anything from BLM, calling them a fraud. I have yet to hear stories of reinvesting in low income communities. I googled BLM giving back, found nothing about who they help but more about their finances and how are they are not transparent. 6. I would like to know historically the boards position in supporting these groups. Coming into this role, I am not versed on what issues children of color, Asian and Black students are faced with in our district. Of course, support and advocacy goes without saying, ALL children deserve to go to school in a safe environment free of discrimination and racism. 7. F.I.R.E, I read their bio on the Webster site, but I am unclear on what their role is? What impact do they have on the curriculum? This is a parent led group, while watching the last zoom meeting, I would dare say kids are not watching these zooms so what is the purpose to educate parents on diversity? Pushing the book "White Fragility" is NOT OK with me, my children feeling guilty because of the life I have worked hard to provide them is NOT OK, which they do on the zoom. Additionally, it states this group is for racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia and ableism…yet only racism was discussed? Were they the group that pushed the Implicit Bias Test? If elected I will certainly involve myself to learn what their purpose is and impact on our school.

I am glad I was able to be at the meeting last night and get one of my questions answered. I do have more questions and I will ask to speak at each meeting until I am a hopefully a member of this board. Though some parents don't express themselves the way I do, that does not mean it was not warranted. Parents are upset, frustrated and scared for their children. The whole situation could have easily gone on without police presents. There was no threat to anyone's safety. What broke the camels back was when the board President Tammy G, stated that no persons had requested to speak at the meeting so they would go forward with the budget discussions, which was a lie. I requested to speak along with four other people. That is when it got hot. In the end, I feel it was a great show of passion and ultimate respect for the people who were heard and the questions that where answered. I do believe it went as well as it did because of the interterm super Brian Neenan. He showed great class, empathy and respect for all people present.

Quietly this week Spencerport Middle Schools went back to school four days a week. While our District is clouded in scandal who is looking out for our kids to go back to school full time?
This Thursday there is another board meeting, I submitted my questions but they were answered privately through email, so I posted them on this site.
I have just emailed the board again, asking if I am "allowed" to speak during this meeting...I would like them to answer the above question. I will let you know if they permit me to speak at my own districts school board meeting!!!

Before each public board meeting you must submit questions. For the meeting on May 6th, these were the questions I asked, and answers I received back from the district.

1. For the 2021-2022 Budget, what is the tax increase proposed?
2. Who pays for the legal fees when the district or former superintendent is sued, how does that work?

Slides 21-27 breakdown my estimate for next year. It is my mathematical best guess with the information we have now, but like I state in the presentation not all of it becomes official until August.

On your second question, the district carries liability insurance that covers all claims against the district brought by anyone for any situation.

Today, a friends mother received a call from Gumina to put a Sue Casey sign in her yard. She said no, but why is this ok or fair. For each sign I put up, I asked the person who lived there. I even went to strangers homes explained why I was running to get their support.
Things like this bring me down.

On April 19th, at 4pm, I submitted my 200 signatures. Shortly after I received an email from the district clerk naming the other five candidates along with the time we needed to report to district office Tuesday morning 4/20 for the ballot pull (this determines where your name is on the voting ballot). I responded, for transparency purposes I expect all candidates petition signatures to be visible so we can validate each candidate got the required 73 signatures to run. I received no response. The next morning an hour before we were to be at district office, they postponed the drawing, stating a candidate withdrew and due to a law, they must extend the petition period by 15 days. I immediately emailed requesting to see this law, the name of the person who withdrew, and each candidate petition signatures to date. Hours went by.....so I sent another email this time to the entire board reiterating my requests. I expressed my disappointment, I am putting my family through this, paid for my signs and permits myself not asking for contributions, I put up 90 of my own signs, got each one of my 200 signatures, to hit a roadblock. One of the biggest complaints I hear from parents is the lack of transparency, accountability, and accessibility this board is to the community. I pleaded with them to prove me wrong, respond to this email, NO RESPONSE... I was then forced to FOIL (Freedom of information Law) the district to get what I requested. The issue with FOIL, they can still deny my request and they do not have to do anything for 30 days which then the election will be over. I am left to wonder had I not asked for proof of signatures, would they have postponed the petition period? Is this just a way for them to give a certain candidate more time to get the required signatures? I probably will never know.

If you are not available on May 18th, from 6am - 9 pm, all absentee ballot applications must be RECEIVED by the district clerk at least seven business days prior to the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the vote if the ballot is to be picked up personally by or for the voter.

Hi everyone. Over the weekend we were at a lax tournament when a dad asked how the running was going. I shared with him my experience, he was surprised stating how would people know this, you should have a website. Since I don't know how to create a web page, I created this page instead. I will post my experience running for BOE and hope to give you insight on what happens behind the scenes.
I will not be talking bad about people, calling names or anything like that, i will just give you my experiences and feelings so you can make determinations on your own.
