Today, the All Saints Academy community gathered around our flagpole to remember September 11, 2001, and the nearly 3,000 lives lost on that tragic day.
As we reflected on the moments that changed our nation forever—the moments when each plane struck its target—we remembered the innocent lives taken, the first responders who ran toward danger, the families who lost loved ones, and the countless acts of courage, compassion, and unity that followed.
We were honored to have Commander Snow and Chief Saad join us for our outdoor gathering and remembrance, along with the parents who came to share this special moment with our students.
Although our students were not yet born when 9/11 occurred, we believe it is important for them to understand its place in our history and, most importantly, to remember the people behind the numbers.
Through prayer, reflection, acts of kindness, and a commitment to helping one another, we can carry the lessons of September 11 forward.
Today, our students pledged to “Do a Good Deed” in remembrance of those who lost their lives. Our preschool and kindergarten students created a beautiful Tribute in Light display to honor the victims and symbolize the resilience of New York City. Students also created a Blue Sky Remembrance Wall as a symbol of hope, peace, and remembrance.
Students also created a beautiful “Survivor Tree” that now serves as a meaningful reminder in our hallway that even after facing unimaginable challenges, there is always hope, strength, and the ability to grow again. Its presence reminds us that we can persevere through difficult times and, with faith and the support of one another, continue to move forward.
May we always remember.
May we always choose kindness.
May we always work for peace.
