We are getting ready to install the electric service to our duplex project. One of the students signed up for Tiger Construction this year, Barrett, did the excavating! Thank you Webster ACE Hardware for donating the mini excavator, Viking Electric for donating the service meter and conduit, and Bob Lindberg for volunteering to teach students about the electrical trade. We are truly blessed!

Mother Nature isn't the only one ready to turn up the heat! Thanks to Earth Energy Systems we'll be ready for winter. Bruce Wikstrom has supported Tiger Construction on every house the students have built. He is always willing to meet with the students, donate materials, and send his best guys to teach to latest technology involved the HVAC trade. It is mesmerizing watching his professional staff, who make it look so easy! It is also amazing to see how the materials and tools have advanced over the years.

Tiger Tech offers students an aviation ground school. One of our wonderful volunteers, Steven Billings, comes in and gives students flight training on our simulator. On Saturday's from 9 to noon at the Siren Airport, guided by mentors, they are learning how to build a Vans RV 12 kit airplane. Contact Tiger Tech if you would like more information on how you can apply to be part of Teen Aircraft Factory of Wisconsin. Spots are limited, but it never hurts to get your name on the list if you are passionate about aviation!

I just submitted my final round application to the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools! As always, I am willing to put in the extra work and do whatever I can if it will benefit Tiger Tech students. It is so exciting to be in the top 50!!! Thank you for all your support and kind comments on the posts the School District of Webster has been making about me. The truth is I have been blessed to be surrounded by an amazing wife, students, volunteers, businesses, and a community who has believed and supported my "crazy" Ideas. One of my was starting Tiger Manufacturing (MFG) 20 years ago. My first love was making cabinets and furniture. My freshmen year in high school I made a computer desk in a woodworking class. I took Tech Ed classes all through HS and worked at Wegner Cabinetry in the summers throughout college and into my career as a teacher. I became a family friend of the owner, Dave Wegner. I pitched the idea about starting Tiger MFG and making and selling him cabinet parts the students make and he was all in. This is the month that 20 years ago the first parts were manufactured at Tiger MFG. That summer of 2006, Dave Wegner, Dick Schultz and I worked all summer getting the machinery wired (thank you Dicky!) and cabinet software parameters programmed to make parts that would match or exceed the quality of Wegner Cabinetry's standards (thanks Dave!). It took Tiger MFG 5 years to pay back a $53,835 loan we took out to start the business. Since paying off our debt, we've been investing in our students and program which Harbor Freight Tools for Schools has recognized us by putting Tiger Tech in the top 50 of schools.

Today, we are incredibly proud to announce that Mr. Roy Ward has been named one of the 𝙏𝙤𝙥 𝟱𝟬 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 for the 2026 Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence.

This prestigious national award recognizes outstanding skilled trades educators from across America who are preparing the next generation of skilled professionals.

If you've ever walked through our Tech Ed Department, you've seen firsthand why Roy is deserving of this honor.

Since joining Webster in 1998, Roy has transformed our Tech Ed program into something truly extraordinary.

Under his leadership, Tiger Manufacturing has grown from a single CNC machine into a 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙙, student-run manufacturing business where students design, engineer, machine, weld, build, and solve real-world manufacturing challenges for actual customers.

His students have competed—and succeeded—on the state and national stage through SkillsUSA, represented Webster in Project MFG competitions against colleges and technical schools across the country, appeared on Clash of Trades, built homes from the ground up through Tiger Construction, earned industry certifications, and launched careers in the skilled trades and engineering.

His vision has created partnerships with local businesses, generated scholarships for students, attracted grants and donations, and built opportunities that simply would not exist without his leadership.
