"Through These Halls Walk Some Of The Finest Students In The Nation." 🧡🖤

When Dr. Dan Edwards stepped in as Webster Groves High School’s sixth principal in the spring of 1986, he brought a bold, student-oriented vision to awaken WGHS from its mid-1980s slumber and propel it back into county, statewide, and national distinction.
His lasting gift—the iconic orange and black banner—served as a daily testament to what Statesmen could achieve.

Driven by student-centered learning, team teaching, curriculum coordination, and staff motivation, Dr. Edwards immediately got to work:
✴️ Launched the "Committee of Forty": A diverse cross-section of students appointed to boost school spirit, keep the student body connected, and champion academic excellence.
✴️ Fostered Community & Climate: Brought parent volunteers into classrooms as tutors and library helpers.
✴️ Strengthened Connection: Introduced the new homeroom advisement program to build stronger bonds across campus.

Dr. Edwards’ legacy helped shape the pride, tradition, and standard of excellence we still celebrate today.

'06Reunion

Alumna Karlie Kloss (c/o 2011) continues to break ground across media, technology, and publishing. Expanding her mission to empower the next generation, Kloss has released her new children’s picture book, Spaghetti Code: A Story About Problem-Solving, Pasta, and the Power of Big Ideas.

Inspired by her non-profit organization Kode with Klossy—which provides free coding bootcamps to young women—the book introduces STEM concepts to younger audiences through the story of heroine Kelly Kent who uses her coding superpowers and critical thinking to debug the system and save the day.

Kloss was also featured in a Bloomberg News, "How Karlie Kloss Went From Cover Girl to Media Mogul." The segment explores Kloss’s transition from international supermodel to entrepreneur. Whether she is championing tech education through Kode with Klossy, steering major media brands, or inspiring young minds with Spaghetti Code, Karlie continues to embody the creativity, leadership, and drive of a true Statesman from the Webster Groves School District.

To help keep Moss Field in excellent condition for our students, athletes and community, the field will undergo scheduled maintenance next week.

**Moss Field and the track will be closed Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 7** while this work is completed. We kindly ask everyone to avoid the area during this time for safety.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we care for this important community space. We look forward to welcoming everyone back once the maintenance is complete.
