Gifted Resource Council is a nonprofit founded in 1983 to support and enrich bright and talented children from across the metropolitan St. Louis area.

Mission statement: To bring together the resources of the schools, community and parents to help bright and talented children achieve their potential. Through deep-dive summer camps, hands-on weekend programming and the highly popular Academic Challenge Cup, GRC provides the resources bright children need to thrive. Since parents have started asking. . . we're currently hard at work on the Fall Learning Lab line-up of classes. We'll be back at Wydown Middle for them and the dates are Oct. 3 - Nov. 7.
We hope๐Ÿคžto have registration open the first week of September, although that's approaching awfully quickly! ๐Ÿ˜… Stay tuned!

Flashback Friday! All the way back to this year's summer camp. ๐Ÿ˜Most days we have all-camp assemblies, and often these include various classes doing a presentation about what they're learning. These may be in the form of poster presentations, original skits, sales pitches (if it's ECO Academy), scenes from a play and more! Here are just a few pics from this summer's presentations.

We'd also like to send out very best wishes to 8(!!) of our summer camp assistant teachers who will be heading off as college freshmen over the next few weeks. Some also subbed and worked in before and after care. Their colleges are Wash U, Mizzou, Tulane, University of Denver, KU, Rochester Institute of Technology, and 2 are going to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. We've got artists and programmers and game designers and marketing/business majors and pre-law and maybe even an astrophysicist! We wish them all a great first year! ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ’™ (We're missing a couple of pics - those kids move fast!)

GRC also recognizes our "graduating" campers - those who are aging out of the summer program - although we always hope they'll consider coming back as assistant teachers! This year we had 15! At the final assembly each session, we share some remarks about each camper's time with GRC and they each get a pair of GRC branded sunglasses, because - as the song says - their "future's so bright, they gotta wear shades!"

Each session at summer camp, GRC recognizes teachers who have worked summer camp for a multiple of 5 years. This year we had 8 teachers celebrating anniversaries. Kathy Murphy worked an amazing 30 years with GRC! She also announced her retirement - we so appreciate her years of teaching Space and Math, Marvels & More! In Session 2, we had Megan Kemper, Emily Mills, Andy Mills and Gretchen Timpe - all clocking in at 5 years. In Session 3, we celebrated Lisa Hummel (25 years), Kai Ortolan (5 years) and David Linder (20 years - maybe more!). These teachers (and our others) are the heart of GRC's programming - they really understand what makes gifted kids tick and how to support and challenge them. Congrats to all and here's the next 5 (or 20)! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’™
