David Crockett Elementary Library - Weatherford ISD

📚 Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade book clubs have been going wonderfully over the past two weeks! 🦘

Each class has the opportunity to enjoy lunch in the library one day a week while we read a few chapters from a book selected by student vote. Participation is completely voluntary, but I’m so proud to share that most students have chosen to join the club! 💛

Our students are exploring some wonderful stories, including:

📖 Charlotte’s Web 🕷️
📖 The One and Only Ivan 🦍
📖 The Unteachables 🏫
📖 Smiley 😊
📖 A Strange Thing Happened in Cherry Hall
📖 The Wild Robot 🤖

It has been such a joy to see students excited about reading, sharing their thoughts, and enjoying books together. I’m looking forward to all the adventures these stories will bring!

Y'all, just look at all the new books arriving in the David Crockett Elementary Library! 📚💙 We're incredibly grateful to the Weatherford ISD Education Foundation for funding three grants that allowed us to add these nonfiction titles in support of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade curriculum. Thank you for helping us provide engaging, high-quality resources that inspire a love of reading and learning in our students!

What an AMAZING first full week in the Crockett Library! ❤️📚 Every class from Pre-K through 5th grade has visited as we learn the routines, discuss book care, and—best of all—find books they’re genuinely excited to read! There’s just something special about watching a child find that book… the one they can’t wait to take with them. Witnessing those "book joy" moments are what it's all about! 🥰📖 And Friday brought an extra-special surprise—a visit from our library therapy dog, Dolly! 🐾❤️ Five lucky classes got to spend some time with her, making an already wonderful week even sweeter. So many smiles, so many books, and so much excitement for the year ahead. I think we’re going to have an AMAZING year in the Crockett Library! ✨📚

A Big Thank You from Our Crockett Elementary Library! 🏖️ Our recent beach-themed reading unit was an absolute splash! 🌊The library was transformed into a sunny seaside escape, complete with beach décor, inflatable floaties for reading, and some extra-special “fancy” drinks prepared by our wonderful teachers. Most importantly, our students had such a joyful and memorable time falling in love with reading in a whole new way. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this experience possible—our teachers, staff, volunteers, and families who contributed time, creativity, and support. Your involvement helped turn this unit into something truly special for our students. We are so grateful for our amazing school community! 🌊☀️
