We are having camp in-person this year -- woohoo!

So, we need YOU -- college-aged students -- to help to inspire and keep safe 7th and 8th grade girls during the 2020/2021 combined "mega-camp" from June 12 to 19 on the SWOSU campus.

Note: We may be able to work around summer school, so please still apply.

Each counselor would live in the dorms with the campers and would be paired with another counselor to lead a dorm group. Photographers and camp assistants are more part-time jobs (don't have to spend the night), but still a necessary part of camp.

SWOSU students need to apply via Handshake – Counselor #4603388, Camp Assistant ( #4603761), and Camp Photographer ( #4603676) -- and off-campus folks can apply via resume and letter of intent sent to [Email hidden] Deadline: April 16

Hello STEAM enthusiasts,

It is with great sadness that on May 28, the SAGE STEAM TEAM made the tough decision to postpone camp until 2021. At this time, safety requirements would make it difficult (and, in many cases, impossible) to provide hands-on activities and interactions between campers and potential mentors, as well as travel to on-site STEAM experiences across Oklahoma. In other words, a 2020 camp would just not be the same.

On a positive note, the outstanding group of young women who were supposed to be 2020 campers will be invited to attend the full week of camp next summer. Therefore, girls who would have benefited this summer will still be able to benefit from your support next year.

In the meantime, follow us for STEAM postings as we move forward. Stay safe!

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and the 55th anniversary of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, AAUW/OK is re-launching the Teen Voices Contest. The topic focuses on investigating the leadership skills of an American woman or group who has led the fight for women's rights.

Winners will receive a monetary award, plus be recognized at the AAUW/OK State Convention this summer.

Hello former Tech Trek camper!

We invite you to be a part of the third year of the SAGE STEAM Camp at SWOSU! The Southwest Alliance for Girls’ Enrichment (SAGE) team updated Tech Trek to incorporate the Arts and Humanities to enrich STEM and to be featured on their own, thus making STEAM.
We are seeking up to six former 2017 Tech Trek campers to become 2019 SAGE STEAMotivators (formerly Junior Counselors; see attached for the description) from June 11 (morning check-in and training) through June 13 (morning check-out and leave after Awards & Graduation Program).
To be considered for this opportunity, completely fill out the online application (click here: http://swosu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8wsQmxPSs7B0RYp) and submit by Friday, March 13, at midnight.
In addition, you need to ask two people to complete an online recommendation on your behalf, also by Friday, March 13, at midnight (share this link with them: http://swosu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_diFRmWQzPj0NA8d). They should not be a relative, but still should know you well enough to comment on your character and work habits - for example, a teacher, counselor, coach, preacher, band instructor, employer, family for whom you baby-sit, etc. Please let them know that we may contact them, in case we have any questions or have more then ten people apply for this opportunity.
After receiving applications, we will conduct phone interviews with you and your primary parent / guardian. Our goal is to select STEAMotivators by the beginning of April. The application and recommendations are to learn more about you and your interest in helping with camp – submitting an application does not guarantee a camp position.

Oklahoma educators,

The SWOSU SAGE STEAM Camp is now accepting teacher nominations for the 2020 summer session! Please nominate students who are currently in 7th grade who show interest in STEAM fields and you think would benefit from the camp. We are looking to accept fifty campers from across the state -- especially those students with an interest / aptitude in STEAM and who may not have this opportunity otherwise. Nominations are due Tuesday, January 28, at 11:59 PM CST, and camp will be from June 7 to 13. Students must complete several steps to attend the SWOSU SAGE STEAM Camp. Fifty middle-school-aged-girls will be selected to participate each summer.
