Student POV - Katie Rains
How are you involved at school?
Being head drum major, I am heavily involved in all things band. When marching band is not going on, and concert season starts, I like to stay involved through the Martin Musical, and clubs like Rooted.
What advice would you offer your younger self?
Let your faith be strong and let it guide you through all the ups and downs of life. Consistently and community are more important than success or results.
What does Roo Nation mean to you?
To me Roo Nation is building relationships and making memories that last beyond high school, having pride in work done by our peers, and working towards changes to make each new generation more successful than the last.
Do you have a favorite memory?
My favorite memory from high school so far is being in Mr. Herring’s Aerospace class, even when I wasn't very technically skilled with the projects it was still a blast.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration is not a person, but it is my faith in Christ. “In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
1 Peter 1:6-7 ESV
What are your plans after graduation?
My plans after graduation are mostly undecided. I’d like to stay in Weatherford and attend Weatherford College to get some of my Gen-Ed credits taken care of before going to a bigger school for either teaching history or engineering.
