🩺💙 Senior year is officially underway!

Our senior nursing students hit the ground running during their first week back—and they have a brand-new classroom to call home on the recently renovated third floor!

Their first week included:
✔️A central line dressing change skill check-off
✔️Clinical orientation at ISMC
✔️A simulated delivery with Mama Anne
✔️Their first clinical shift of senior year

This semester, they’ll dive into critical care and labor & delivery, putting their knowledge and skills into practice as they prepare for their careers as nurses.

We’re proud to watch these future nurses learn, grow, lead and care. Here’s to an incredible senior year! 👏🩺🐾

SWOSU Nursing hit the ground running this first week back, and we wouldn’t have it any other way! 💙 We’ve loved being back with our students and kicking off another semester of learning, growth, and plenty of hard work.
It’s been a busy week, but a GREAT week. Here’s a little glimpse of our faculty bringing their best walk-up energy into the new semester! 👏🎓

We love to see our SWOSU students continuing to learn and improve their nursing skills over the summer break! Yay, Ali Bristow! We are proud of you. 🐾

Welcome the 2026 Nurse Interns!
These students are beginning an important stage in their nursing careers and will be working alongside our staff to gain valuable clinical experience, strengthen their skills, and learn more about compassionate patient care. These interns will spend 8 weeks in select departments prior to graduating from RN school next May.

💙 Five SWOSU Nursing students. One incredible opportunity.
Out of more than 100 applicants, only 30 students were selected for the Mercy Summer Nursing Externship, and SWOSU is proud to have five Bulldogs among them! 🎉
For the next month, they’ll be gaining hands-on experience in the following areas:
🩺 Emma Garza – NICU
🩺 Harper O’Neal – Adult Med-Surg
🩺 Cole Leisher – Adult ICU
🩺 Roger Starkey – Adult ICU Stepdown
🩺 Annie Weichel – Cardiovascular/Pulmonary

Thank you to the Walmart Spark Good Grant Program for supporting SWOSU Nursing!

This grant helps support the expansion of our nursing department and enhances the new facility remodel, including updated nursing bays that will better prepare our students for real-world care.

We’re grateful for your investment in our students and the future of healthcare on the Hilltop!
