Community member Keith Goldsberry has been a big supporter of Waynesville Spartans Athletics for years, and this volleyball season has been no exception! Keith has attended every single home game this year, along with several away games, cheering on the Spartans every step of the way.

His dedication and support haven't gone unnoticed! Last week, the WHS volleyball seniors surprised Keith with a custom stadium chair as a special thank you for always showing up and cheering them on. Keith was genuinely touched by the gesture.

This is a great example of the strong Relationships that make our community so special. Whether it's attending athletic, band, choir, or other school events, our students know how much it means to have people like Keith in their corner!🧡

💗Pink Out Night is this Friday, October 9.

The Waynesville community is coming together to celebrate, support, and surround one of our own, Holly Eckhardt Cooper, at this year’s Pink Out game.

Holly expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Waynesville Athletics, Waynesville Cheer, and the entire Waynesville community for this incredible honor and outpouring of support.

For nearly 18 years, Holly has called Waynesville home, where she has raised her three sons, Jason, Jack, and Jacob Cooper. She has also spent the last 26 years inspiring students as a Seventh Grade Science Teacher with Middletown City Schools.

In December 2025, Holly was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, PR+ and ER+ breast cancer. Since then, she and her family have faced a long and difficult road filled with doctor appointments, surgeries, hospital stays, chemotherapy, and radiation.

Through it all, Holly has found strength, hope, and courage she didn't know she had. Most importantly, she has grown even closer to her family, especially her boys, who have been her daily rock.

Today, Holly is looking ahead and making her way toward a new normal — with a positive outlook, a grateful heart, and a different perspective on life. Now it's our turn to be her rock.💗

Here's a great example of our 3Rs and 3Cs in action: WHS students in Mrs. Cassie Garison’s Physics class put classroom concepts to work with a hands-on investigation of one-dimensional motion. Students chose objects to test, collected position and time data, graphed the results, and used their findings to calculate speed, velocity, and acceleration.📝

They also examined how human error can affect experimental results, an important part of understanding how science works beyond the textbook.⚛

This is Rigor through analysis and calculations, Relevance through hands-on application, and Curriculum that connects scientific concepts to real-world motion.🧪

🔸October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Throughout this month, Wayne Local Schools is joining schools across the country in raising awareness about bullying and promoting kindness, acceptance, inclusion, and belonging among our students.

⭐We encourage every student to be an upstander - someone who speaks up, supports others, includes those who may feel left out, and reports bullying or unkind behavior to a trusted adult.

🔸Our districtwide PBIS expectations remind us that Spartans are Respectful, Responsible, and Kind. Together, we can create a culture where every student feels safe, supported, valued, and connected.

🔸Join us on October 21 for Unity Day. WLS students and staff will wear orange as we come together to show that no student should ever experience bullying.🧡🖤

📝What better way to learn about history than from our community members who lived it? WES fifth graders in Mrs. Holtz’s and Mrs. Marcum’s Social Studies classes visited Ohio Living Quaker Heights to interview residents for a timeline project.

🧡Students asked about the toys they played with, the sports they enjoyed, the technology they used growing up, and major world events they remember. The conversations were stellar! There were great stories and meaningful connections made across generations. This is Relationships and Community in action!🖤
