🚒 Safety in practice is important. Waynesville Elementary students and staff completed a fire drill today, practicing how to exit the building safely, calmly, and efficiently.

Regular safety drills help students know what to do in an emergency and give staff the opportunity to review procedures and expectations with them.

WES parents: Ask your student about today’s fire drill. Everyone did exactly what they were supposed to do. Students and staff did a great job putting safety procedures into practice.⭐✅

Practicing together is an important part of making sure our students feel safe.🧡

And yes, the fall pickup is intentional. Our student yearbook staff covers the entire school year - August through June - so those final memories make the book, too.

First graders in Ms. Sandlewick's class worked on their "All about Me" flipbooks to develop a sense of belonging, strengthen their communication skills, and build classroom community. They're only five days into the school year, but friendships are already forming, connections are growing, and these young Spartans are learning what makes each classmate unique.🧡

⚛Our fifth graders had one mission: Save Fred!🧡

In this hands-on STEM challenge, students worked in teams to rescue Fred, a gummy worm stranded on his overturned “boat.” With a few materials, some creative thinking, and plenty of trial and error, students had to figure out a solution together. 💡

The activity encouraged students to think like engineers, try different strategies, learn from mistakes, and persevere when their first ideas didn’t work. Most importantly, students discovered that successful problem-solving often requires communication, patience, creativity, and teamwork!

STEM skills in action, and Fred was happily rescued!🙌

⭐Battle of the Hallways is back at WMS and WHS! Battle of the Hallways is a Homecoming tradition hosted by our Student Councils; each grade, 6-12, competes to show off its school spirit, creativity, and teamwork by decorating its hallway with a unique theme. Students will work together in Connect and after school to transform their hallway!

🌍Our students are already gearing up for this year’s theme: The Spartan World Showcase! Students will transform their hallways to celebrate a country while showing off their Spartan school spirit!🧡🖤

▶To make it all possible, we need your help! Every donation will make a difference.
Each hallway requires a significant amount of materials so students can bring their ideas to life and show off their creativity through the decorations they build.

Reminder for parents of students in grades 6-12: The WMS and WHS Open House is on Monday, August 24, 6-8 p.m. The evening will begin in the WHS Gym for all grade levels.

Families will have the opportunity to walk through student schedules, meet teachers, and get familiar with school routines and expectations. We look forward to seeing our WMS and WHS families!

Waynesville High School is excited to offer a Driver Education Program to students through a partnership with Professional Driving Systems (PDS) of Kettering, Ohio.

Parent Information Night

A representative from Professional Driving Systems will be at WHS on Monday, August 24, at 8:00 PM to provide parents and students with information about the program. The meeting will be held in the Spartan Room in the HS.

During the information night, PDS will discuss:

▶How to sign up for Driver Education
▶Program schedules and requirements
▶Costs and payment information
▶What students and parents can expect throughout the course
▶The process for getting students started toward earning their driver's license

This meeting is a great opportunity for parents and students to learn more about the Driver Education options available through WHS and Professional Driving Systems and to have their questions answered.
