I've organized a few spaces in my own house recently and thought I'd do something a little different and post the step-by-step process and explanations to show others how they can apply these steps to their own projects.
First up is my tea cabinet. It was stressing me out! I was stuffing bags of loose teas wherever they would fit, I could never find what I was looking for, and other items lived in the back of the cabinet so long that I forgot that they existed.
Step 1: Pull out all items. As I put them on the counter, I grouped the like-items together(loose teas, box teas, honey and tinctures) so I could see what/how many of each item I had.
Step 2: Decide what new system would work for this space. I knew I needed my loose leaf teas to be contained - so I grabbed a couple of containers to see what would work best. This took some trial and error. I ended up having a lot of duplicates, so I put those in a container on the bottom and placed an open container on top with the teas I'm currently using for easy access.
Step 3: Declutter and discard expired/unwanted/trash items.
Step 4: Organize the items leftover. The items I use daily are on the bottom and middle shelves, the items I use less frequently are on the top. Everything is grouped by category.
I know it can be overwhelming to organize, but remember that every project is just a series of smaller tasks. If you are overwhelmed, I'm happy to help š
