Tomorrow at 5:00 PM, The Superintendent’s Chair welcomes 2027 South Carolina Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Akil Ross Sr.

The hardest decisions in leadership do not always happen in front of the media, during a board meeting, or when everyone is watching.

Sometimes they happen in the quiet—when you are alone, carrying the weight of the role, and deciding whether you will keep moving forward or give up.

Dr. Ross shares a powerful truth about the private side of leadership that every superintendent, principal, educator, and leader needs to hear.

Have you ever been rejected from something you were certain was meant for you?

Sometimes rejection is not punishment: it is God’s protection and redirection.

In this powerful episode of *The Superintendent’s Chair*, Dr. Craig Lockhart shares how rejection helped position him exactly where he was meant to serve: Valdosta City Schools.

His message is simple but powerful:

**“Rejection can be protection.”**

That closed door may not be the end of your story. It may be God protecting you and preparing you for something greater.

📚 Welcome to The Superintendent’s Chair

Every superintendent has a story.

Every school district has a vision.

The Superintendent’s Chair was created to preserve the leadership journeys, lessons, and visions of educational leaders while highlighting the incredible work taking place in public education across Georgia.

As a former superintendent myself, I know the public rarely gets the opportunity to hear directly from the leaders responsible for educating thousands of children. This podcast changes that.

Each conversation is authentic, unscripted, and focused on leadership, not politics. My hope is that educators, parents, students, aspiring leaders, and communities will be inspired by the people serving our schools every day.

What does over 40 years of service in education look like?

Join me as I sit down with Superintendent Debra B. Frazier of Liberty County Schools for an inspiring conversation on The Superintendent’s Chair.

From beginning her career as a paraprofessional to becoming a teacher, principal, and superintendent, her journey is a powerful reminder that faith, perseverance, and consistency can take you further than you ever imagined.

Her story truly inspired me, and I believe it will inspire you too.

If she can do it, you can too.

The hardest person you’ll ever lead is yourself.

The better you lead your emotions, attitude, discipline, and habits, the better prepared you are to serve the people depending on you.

What part of you needs to grow?
