2026–2027 School Year

The State of Mississippi has updated student attendance requirements for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year. Please review the graphic below ⬇️ for important policy updates that impact student attendance.

At Wayne Central School, we believe that every day counts! Regular attendance helps students build academic success, maintain positive relationships, participate in activities, and prepare for future opportunities.

Parents and families, here are ways you can help support your child’s attendance:

🗓️ Plan Ahead: Whenever possible, schedule appointments, trips, and activities during school breaks or outside regular school hours.

📝 Submit Documentation: Provide medical excuses and required documentation to the school as soon as possible.

💬 Stay Connected: Communicate with your child’s teacher and school when absences occur so we can work together to support your student.

🎯 Make Attendance a Priority: Every day your child is in school is another opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed!

Join us for our FREE Back-to-School Haircut Event on Tuesday, July 29, and Wednesday, July 30, from 8:00 AM–12:00 Noon.

🚨 Registration is required! A limited number of Wayne Central students will receive haircuts, so don’t wait!

There is no better way to begin a new school year than by showing our students they are surrounded by a community that believes in them!

Join us Monday, August 3, at 7:00 AM as we welcome our students and officially kick off the 2026–2027 school year with excitement, encouragement, and Lion Pride!

Bring your posters, signs, pom-poms, noise makers, smiles, and positive energy as we line up to cheer our students on as they arrive. A few words of encouragement and a warm welcome can make a lasting impact on a child’s year.
