s. If you have a personal issue, please contact the school or division offices.
• Be respectful. No personal attacks, offensive language, or false information.
• Stay on topic. Let’s keep the conversation related to our division, schools, and activities. Let’s stay away from ads, politics, and outside organizations.

Did you know? Missing just two days of school each month can add up to chronic absence—missing 10% of the school year. Excused and unexcused absences both mean lost time for learning, friendships and classroom routines. Illness and emergencies happen, and WPS is here to help. When your child is healthy, help them arrive on time and ready to learn. If something is getting in the way, contact your child’s school so we can work through it together

Every student brings something special to the classroom—and school is better when they are here. This year, WPS is joining the 2026 Attendance Awareness Campaign with a simple message: Your Presence Matters! Regular attendance helps students build strong relationships, keep up with learning and feel connected to their school community. Let’s show up, learn and grow—together.

Our 3- and 4-year-olds had a great first day of STEAM last week! They got a first look at our new Sphero indi cars that we'll be learning and exploring with throughout the year. Then, they got creative and designed their very own robots with stickers. We're excited for lots of building, creating, and exploring this year!

School readiness is about more than schedules and supplies. At the Back-to-School Bash, community partners offered haircuts that helped students begin the year feeling confident, cared for and ready to learn.

By bringing practical support together in one welcoming place, WPS helps remove barriers before the first bell. This is what support looks like.

Did you know that 13 languages are spoken across Waynesboro Public Schools?

A multilingual school community needs communication that reaches families in languages they understand. That is why WPS uses Volatia to access interpretation support for languages beyond English and Spanish.

Our next superintendent must value language access and ensure every family can participate. Help shape the leadership profile by August 21: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2026WaynesboroCitySearch

⏰ The deadline is approaching!

We had a wonderful first day of school yesterday! We are so excited about this amazing group of students and families! 💙💛

A few reminders to help arrival and dismissal run safely and smoothly:

🚗 Please remain in your vehicle during drop-off and pick-up. Our staff will help your child get out of the car in the morning and into the car in the afternoon.

✅ Please have your child unbuckled and ready to exit when you reach your cone in the morning.

✅ Staff members do not buckle students into their seats at dismissal. To safely buckle your child, please pull forward and over into the area in front of the cones.

🚙 Cars should line up from Loudoun Street and turn onto Fir Street. The police department recommended this change to prevent the line from extending across King Avenue and to avoid problems caused by cars merging into the line.

Transportation staff are still working out a few kinks and finalizing routes. Our arrival and dismissal processes will continue to become faster and smoother as everyone settles into the routine.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and support as we begin a wonderful new school year! 🐝
