Our 5th graders had an AMAZING first week of school! ππ
They spent the week getting to know one another, building a classroom community, and having lots of fun learning
πͺ± Saving Fred! Students worked together to save βFred,β the gummy worm! They had to place his life preserver (a peach ring) around him and get him safely back into his boat (a clear cup) using only four paper clips. They could not touch Fred, the peach ring, or the cup with their fingers! This activity allowed growth for teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and
perseverance.
π Celebrating Diversity: Students learned about fingerprints and discovered whether they had a loop, whorl, or arch. They compared their fingerprints with their classmates and learned that while we may have similarities, everyone is unique!
π Letters to Our Future Selves: Students wrote letters to their future selves that will be returned to them during the last week of 5th grade. We canβt wait to see how much they grow, learn, and accomplish this year!
What a wonderful way to start our 5th grade journey! We are so proud of our students and are looking forward to an incredible year! β€π
