Our FFA members had the opportunity to put their floral design skills to work by creating arrangements for tonight’s middle school football game for each of our grade level representatives!

Our Junior Floriculture CDE member, Bailee and members of our FFA Officer Team worked to bring these bouquets to life. We love giving our students opportunities to work together, learn new skills, and be a part of events happening right here at BCMS!

Today, BCMS FFA traveled to Perry, GA for the Area 4 Region Rally! Our members spent the day building relationships, strengthening our chapter through team building activities, and having a whole lot of fun!

Our motivational speaker, Alex Hiatt challenged our members to step outside their comfort zones, connect with the people around them, and use their words to encourage others.

He also reminded us that adversity is going to come. What matters is how we respond. And one message that really stuck with us: failure doesn’t exist unless you quit.

A pretty great way to kick off another year in FFA!

Our Junior Floral Design participants spent the day at Camp John Hope for the State Floral Design Clinic, hosted by state horticulture teachers and industry professionals.

The theme for this year’s clinic was “Garden Party,” and students learned how to make a corsage, napkin rings, a garden-themed bud vase, and a centerpiece. After lunch, they put all of their pieces together to create a mock reception alongside the senior clinic participants.

It was really cool to see our students get a firsthand look at the floral design industry while being instructed by professionals who work in the field. They got to learn new techniques, work with different flowers and materials, and see how floral design is used for an actual event.

Days like this are such a great opportunity for our students to learn skills they can actually use outside of the classroom!

Our first FFA meeting of the year was a hot, but fun one! Our officer team planned a great afternoon, introducing members to some of the activities they can participate in throughout the year. We played a fun game, got to know one another, and cooled down with some Kona Ice. It was great seeing so many new and returning faces, and we’re excited for another great year in BCMS FFA!

The BCMS FFA Officer Team spent Monday in Helen, GA, for officer training! We spent the morning setting goals, planning chapter activities, and getting ready for an exciting year ahead.

Of course, we had to mix in a little fun! We spent time tubing down the Chattahoochee River, where our officers strengthened their communication, teamwork, and leadership skills by helping one another navigate the river (and a few rocks along the way!). Sometimes leadership is as simple as helping a teammate off a rock, giving them a push, and laughing the whole way down the river.

It’s going to be a great year for BCMS FFA!

POV: You had a busy, but fun week at Summer Leadership Camp!

Our FFA members had a blast in Covington this week at SLC! They were up before 7 a.m every day cleaning cabins for inspections before spending the day participating in leadership activities, competitions, and camp events.

Throughout the week, students tackled the mud obstacle course and the blob, competed in softball and volleyball games, and participated in both team and individual competitions. (Shoutout to Luke and his partner for winning the football throw competition for our cabin!)

One of the unique parts of SLC is that students are placed in cabins with FFA members from chapters across Georgia. This gave our students the opportunity to meet new people from middle and high school chapters, make new friends, work as a team, and practice leadership skills with students they had never met before. They showed great sportsmanship, stepped outside their comfort zones, and represented our chapter well all week long. It was a great reminder that SLC is about much more than competitions. It is about building leaders, developing confidence, and creating connections that extend far beyond our own chapter.

From Team Dorito Descendants to Team Taki Tornados, our members made some great memories and are already planning for next year!

Last Thursday we wrapped up the year the best way we know how and that was with lots of laughs and a mechanical bull!

Thank you to everyone who made this year in FFA so memorable. From contests and conventions to chapter meetings and community service, this group has made BCMS FFA proud every step of the way.

We’re already excited for what next year will bring!
