Check out the most recent flier for the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library’s Speakeasy Night Fundraiser! Special thanks to our newest sponsors, those who have been with us since the beginning, and everyone who has bought tickets so far.

So what do you get with a ticket?

Drinks and catered food: Christine's Cafe will be catering delicious hors d'oeuvres and serving mixed drinks at four different stations - each with their own theme. The library will also have a beer and wine bar, with beer provided by Michaux Brewing Co.

Live Music: Knock On Wood Marimba will kick off the night with live ragtime music.

Escape Room: Oh no! The party’s been busted by the fuzz. You and other guests are hiding in the office of an infamous mobster. Can you escape before the coppers break in or will you be hauled off in the paddy wagon.

Games: Play unique and fun casino inspired games - including a human slot machine! Win a game and get a ticket for a special raffle basket. Prove you’re hep to flapper slang in a special speakeasy trivia game and win free books!

Silent Auction: Bid on baskets of merchandise donated by local businesses such as Sugar Hollow Farms and the Vintage Flame. One basket will include a very special gift certificate from Adams County Winery for an eight person wine tour and tasting.

All proceeds go toward ensuring the library can continue to provide free resources and activities for patrons of all ages. We hope to see you there old sport!

In the 20’s Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library was a private residence belonging to the granddaughter of Alexander Hamilton (not the one on the $10 bill.) Today, the building is a vibrant library where we serve patrons from Franklin County and over the border in Maryland!

The library thanks Kori and Jacob of the Conococheague Institute for visiting us recently with the presentation, “Revolutionary Homestead: Clothing & Lifestyles of a Frontier Farm.” We got to see a full range of clothing items that would have been worn by women and men in rural Pennsylvania in the late 18th century. Plus, we met Gethin, CI’s lively young sheep ambassador!

Congratulations to our 2026 Summer Reading Prize Winners!! We still have a couple that need to be picked up, so if you received the call, please contact the library by August 8 to arrange to pick up your prize basket.

All participants receive a free book, so if you haven't gotten your book yet, please stop in before Saturday to choose one.
