This week, Mrs. Michael's 8th grade Earth science class is finishing up their outer space unit with a capstone project. They will be launching egg-stronauts (very brave egg-astronauts) to infinity and beyond aboard a bottle rocket. The rocket is designed with 3 components: fuselage (with fuel compartment), capsule with parachute and a nose cone. When the rockets launch, the capsule must (hopefully) separate from the fuselage, and bring our intrepid eggy-astronauts back to earth safely. This project is a fun way to end the year, while still engaging students in to scientific method and engineering design process that they have been working on all year. πππ

πβ¨ What a Night to Remember! β¨π
Our 8th graders had an absolute blast at this year's Masquerade Ball! Dressed in their finest attire, students filled the dance floor with energy, laughter, and some impressive dance moves. ππΊ
A huge thank you to Ms. Barnes and Ms. Southern for their outstanding leadership with Student Council and for creating such a beautiful setting for the evening. Their hard work and dedication made this event truly special!
Special thanks also to Mr. Taylor for keeping the music going all night long and helping make the dance floor the place to be. πΆπ§
We are also incredibly grateful to all of the teachers and staff members who volunteered their time and helped ensure the event was a success. Their support made for a fun, safe, and memorable evening for everyone who attended.
It was an amazing night filled with great memories, and one we hope our 8th graders will cherish for years to come. β€οΈπ

Our students were caught off guard when the Franklin team no longer had water bottles or real cups during the school day on Monday. π²

Earlier today, Instrumental Music students from all three middle schools enjoyed a special performance of "Songs of America" performed by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. It was a wonderful opportunity to inspire our young musicians and celebrate the power of music together!
