Benway is continuing its connections with the Smithsonian Science Education Center in a new capacity.

Elizabeth Alves and Jessica Honculada have been selected to participate in the Zero Barriers in STEM Education Summit at the Smithsonian Science Education Center — Elizabeth as a Mentor, Jessica as an Advisor.

Zero Barriers asks what science education looks like when it's designed from the start for every learner, including students with disabilities. That's not a new idea to us. It's what our STREAM, robotics, and MakerSpace programs do every day.

Schools like ours are rarely invited into national STEM conversations, even though our staff have spent careers solving exactly these problems. Having two Benway educators at that table matters — for our students, and for every school doing this work.
