CAREER SCHOLARS CORE EVENT … Welcome to our 146 freshmen Career Scholars who are participating in their three-day CORE program. CORE stands for “Co-op Orientation, Resources, and Expectations.” CORE is designed to give incoming Career Scholars a chance to connect with their new peers, make friends, and learn about the program from upperclassmen. This program sets the tone for their college experience by covering all aspects of the Career Scholars Program, including activities that foster relationship building, introduce faculty and staff, and ensure everyone has fun while getting comfortable on campus. Dr. Kym Acuña, dean of the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences at Wayne State College, has been named an Impact Academy fellow through the national non-profit organization Deans for Impact (DFI). Acuña joins a cohort of leaders chosen for their commitment to strengthening educator preparation and ensuring future teachers are prepared to meet the needs of all students.

Dr. Kym Acuna, dean of the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences, is one of 24 leaders chosen for the fellowship's 11th cohort.

In conjunction with the Wayne Chicken Show, Wayne State College will present five planetarium and laser shows Saturday, July 11:
- "Dynamic Earth" planetarium show
- "Classic Rock" laser show
- "Earth, Moon, and Sun" planetarium show
- "Variety Pack" laser show
- Stars" planetarium show

Three planetarium shows and two laser shows will be featured Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Fred G. Dale Planetarium.
