🍂 Speller Spotlight! 🍂

We are so proud of our 2026 Empowered Voices Calendar and the incredible creativity our spellers have contributed to every page. 🧡
This month, we’re highlighting Samantha Foglia, whose original writing and artwork come together beautifully on our October page. 🎃🎨

Amazing work, Samantha! Thank you for sharing your creativity and your voice with us. 💛

📢 Coming Soon! Stay tuned for 2027 Calendar presales!

A few weeks ago, our practitioner Christina set up two monarch caterpillars in our office, giving our clients a chance to experience one of nature’s most amazing transformations up close.

We got to watch together as they continued to grow, form their chrysalises, and eventually emerge as monarch butterflies ready for their incredible journey south.

Both butterflies emerged this week, and our pal Victor affectionately named them Brian and James (until we discovered the butterflies were female, and therefore adjusted their names to Brianna and Jamie 😂).

Today at group, we released them so they can begin their migration process!

And while there’s plenty of science to learn along the way, there’s also a lesson we especially love: resilience.

Monarchs are small but mighty. Their journey requires persistence, adaptation, and the ability to keep going through changing conditions—and we see a little of that same spirit in our spellers every day.

So here is what we learned from our monarchs - big journeys happen one step (or one wingbeat!) at a time.

So long, Brianna and Jamie!! 🧡🦋

🐛🦋 We have some special guests at Empowered Voices!

Monarch caterpillars have made their way into the center, giving our spellers a chance to experience one of nature’s most amazing transformations up close. We’ll get to watch as they continue to grow, form their chrysalises, and eventually emerge as monarch butterflies ready for their incredible journey south.

And while there’s plenty of science to learn along the way, there’s also a lesson we especially love: resilience. 🧡

Monarchs are small but mighty. Their journey requires persistence, adaptation, and the ability to keep going through changing conditions—and we see a little of that same spirit in our spellers every day.

At Empowered Voices, our non-speaking and minimally speaking individuals work hard to build reliable communication using letter boards. It takes practice, patience, perseverance, and a whole lot of resilience.

So this fall, we’re learning alongside our monarchs—watching, wondering, growing, and remembering that big journeys happen one step (or one wingbeat!) at a time. 🦋

A new month means a poem! Enjoy Augusts post by Colin

🇺🇸 As we reflect on **America's 250th anniversary**, we're reminded that the freedoms we celebrate came at a great cost.

This powerful poem by Colin Pryor honors those who sacrificed, endured, and fought so future generations could live in freedom. His words serve as a timely reminder that liberty is never free—it is earned through courage and preserved through sacrifice.

Thank you, Colin, for this meaningful tribute.
