WDC teaches kids dance styles such as hip-hip, musical theater, tumbling and pom as well as basic classes; tap, jazz, ballet for ages 3+. We started in the back of a coffee shop and now have our very own location that we are so excited about. Check out our website for more info www.waynedancecompany.com ! WDC is a fun environment where people, primarily children, feel comfortable to dance and be t
hemselves while growing their dance skill set, learning new forms of dance, and expanding their overall technique. Our goal first and foremost is to give kids an experience that will help grow their self-confidence, which they can take with them into the future! More about the owner: As a dancer and former head coach of the Wayne High She Devils as well as the current head coach of the Wayne State Aristocats, Taryn Thompson realized just how much Wayne, America could benefit from an exciting, modern dance studio. She started dancing young at her studio in Minnesota attending regular classes (tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical) as well as joining competition team. She then, was on the competitive high school dance team for 5 years. From there, she danced for two semi-professional football teams and taught young girls ages 3-13 at the YMCA. After college, she started a corporate job in Minneapolis. Something was missing and after discussing things with family, she decided it was time to follow her dream, so there began the adventure of creating the Wayne Dance Company. The staff consists of dancers from around Nebraska and the Midwest. Most of them college students at Wayne State. Their talents range from years of dance competition experience to choreographing for plays/musicals to being current performers. We pride ourselves on having well-rounded, positive staff members that have a deep passion for sharing their love of dance with the next generation.
