Today marked the first day of our William Paterson University Pre-Police Academy paid internship and our interns officially took on what we call “Shoutdown.”
Shoutdown is designed to push our interns beyond their comfort zones, challenging them physically, mentally, and emotionally while preparing them for the demands of a career in law enforcement.
Throughout their first day, our interns had the opportunity to hear directly from professionals in the field. William Paterson University Police Officers, the Chief of Police from the Borough of Haledon, and an FBI Agent took time out of their day to speak with our interns, share words of encouragement, provide motivation, and answer firsthand questions as they begin their journey toward the academy.
Day one tested them.
Day one challenged them.
And day one was only the beginning.
To our interns: keep pushing, stay disciplined, support one another, and remember why you started.

As we return to campus this fall, we would like to remind our students about our SAFE WALK Program, provided directly through Community Policing.
If at any time you feel uncomfortable or unsafe walking alone, whether you are heading to your car, residence hall, classroom, or anywhere else on campus, please do not hesitate to reach out and request an es**rt. Your safety and well-being are always a priority.

Whether it’s late at night, you’re walking across campus alone, or you simply feel more comfortable having someone accompany you, we are here to help. Never hesitate to ask for assistance when you need it.

Remember, there is no need to feel embarrassed or hesitant about reaching out. We want you to feel safe, supported, and comfortable while on campus. Community Policing is here for you because your safety matters! 😊

Welcome back to all of our returning students who are continuing their undergraduate or graduate journey! We are so excited to have you back on campus this fall semester and to continue watching you grow, learn, and accomplish your goals.
As you begin another semester, remember to give yourself grace, stay focused on your goals, and celebrate how far you’ve already come. Whether you’re nearing graduation or continuing to work toward your next milestone, every step forward is something to be proud of.

We are so excited to welcome the Class of 2030 to William Paterson University! 🎉 As you begin this exciting new chapter, we hope you take the time to embrace every opportunity that comes your way and make the most of your college experience.
This semester is the beginning of an incredible journey filled with new friendships, new experiences, challenges, and countless opportunities to grow. Remember that it’s okay to step outside of your comfort zone, ask for help when you need it, and give yourself grace as you adjust to this new chapter.

Believe in yourself, stay motivated, and never be afraid to dream big. There may be moments when things feel challenging, but know that you are capable of overcoming obstacles and accomplishing great things. Sometimes the job brings unexpected visitors.

William Paterson University officers recently responded after a group of goslings made their way into Raubinger Hall, while another was discovered trapped in a nearby sewer drain. Officers quickly stepped in, safely guiding the goslings and helping reunite them with their family.

At University Police, protecting our campus community means looking out for everyone even the smallest members of it.

If you come across wildlife on campus, please avoid approaching or handling the animals and contact University Police for assistance.
