Our children spent last week getting ready for their own lemonade stand, built entirely by their hands.

They cut fresh lemons and strawberries. They stirred batches of strawberry lemonade and jam. They painted their own signs, too.

They even dissected a lemon to see what makes it juicy inside. Then they saved a few seeds to dry. Next spring, they hope to plant them and grow a lemon tree.

Then on Friday, their families got to taste the results. They saw just how much thought and teamwork went into every cup.

Our summer campers celebrated Independence Day this week by making their very own red, white, and blue frozen yogurt parfaits. Each child layered creamy yogurt with fresh berries, choosing and building their snack one spoonful at a time.

This kind of practical life work helps independence grow. As our children scooped, layered, and made their own choices, they strengthened fine motor skills and practiced sequencing, all while enjoying a festive and healthy treat. We loved watching the focus and pride on their faces.

Tie-dye shirts, flower garlands, and a rainbow veggie wrap lunch made this week one to remember at Wayland Montessori. Our campers explored color in the natural world and created art that they will carry with them all summer long. Next week we head into the garden for Bugs and Garden Life.
