Sponsors for the 26-27 Season!

We are inviting all businesses and partners to be a part of our team this year by being a sponsor for the 2026-2027 Wrestling Season! As the student-athletes continue to display excellence on and off the mat, we would like to offer you an opportunity to be a part of our continued success as we represent Waycross and its community throughout the State of Georgia and beyond.

Our goal is to reach 25 total sponsorships by the middle of October. With your support and commitment, we will be able to not only provide the supplemental and equipment needs for our student-athletes, but also compete at the highest level through competitions in preparation of the post season. As your 13x and current defending region champion team, we aim to accomplish our goal of reaching top 4 in the state of Georgia with the GHSA State Championship in mind.

The wrestling banners have been updated with the 10th Traditional and 13th Dual region championship on display! In the halls close to the cafeteria is the recent Duals and Traditional Region Championship banner, celebrating our Wrestlers as back to back champs! Still in process to get the placer wall completed soon with our 2026 region champs and state placers.

Parents: this year we will be selling yard signs to show our public support of the wrestling team! You can reserve yours today by stopping by the table outside of the Gator Den!

The Super 32 Qualifier is open for registration, one of the toughest tournaments in the state of Georgia during the offseason. “How to register” info is below. If you register please let Coach O know as soon as possible. This event is open from grades 7th-12th, meaning middle schoolers can compete in this event.

Great mat time opportunity to see your summer work against high level competition with a chance to earn a registration bid for The Super 32 Challenge in Greensboro, NC (one of the most prestigious folk style tournaments in the nation.)

Camp completed and over 100 reps cashed in over the weekend! Thank you to Coach Flores and Coach Carter of Genesis Wrestling Club for a great camp and a greater experience for our youths!

As we get started into our new week, we’d like to take a moment and say congratulations to Jaden McKelvin for being this year’s recipient of the Taylor Bristow Memorial Scholarship.

Taylor Bristow was a former Ware County Wrestler who had a passion for the sport and Ware County HS. Years after graduation he choose a career path in law enforcement, eventually becoming an investigator. Tragically, Taylor had passed away as a hero in the line of duty in 2024. To honor his memory and legacy, the Bristow Family created a memorial scholarship for all wrestlers who plan to continue their education after high school and the wrestling program hosts the Swamp Duals in his name.

Jaden McKelvin is one of 3 seniors who will be going to college and continue his wrestling career. McKelvin was a team captain this year, accumulating 103 total varsity career wins, 3x region champion, 3x 1st team all-region member, won a total of 5 IBTs (Individually Bracketed Tournament) and state placer this past season. He is also the new TechFall record holder of 28 tech falls in a single season. McKelvin will be traveling to Waterloo, Iowa to continue his wrestling career at Hawkeye Community College, where he will major in graphic designing.

Congrats to our graduated Senior and we are looking forward to seeing your continued success at the next level!

Summer Practices!

Summer workouts begin today. You are required to have an up to date physical in order to participate. All incoming freshman if you are unsure get with Coach Williamson and he will get with the athletic trainer for your physical to transfer from Middle School to High School. Great time to learn, develop in skills and get better for the 26-27 season!

Open mat in Blackshear today! Get your reps in!

Reminder that Open Mat will be tomorrow at our Blackshear location from 3-4:30. Be ready to work!

Big shift happening in Wrestling next season! As duals will remain the same, traditionals will make a big change as classes will go up to 5A for boys instead of 7 and girls will be split into 2 divisions.
