🌟 W-SR 4th Graders Honored as National Math Stars Nominees! 🌟

We’re proud to share that four 4th grade students from the Waverly-Shell Rock Community School District have been recognized as some of Iowa’s most advanced young mathematicians! 🎉

These students earned this distinction by scoring in the top 2% statewide on the Iowa math assessment last spring.

Waverly-Shell Rock’s 2026 National Math Stars nominees are Oscar Crouse, Claire Corcoran, Henry McCaslin, and Ryland Behrendsen.

Each nominee received a special award medal, sponsored by the Iowa Department of Education in cooperation with the National Math Stars organization—a nonprofit dedicated to identifying, celebrating, and supporting mathematically extraordinary students.

Incredible sportsmanship and school spirit exhibited by the Waverly-Shell Rock Student Section!

🏐 NEST SHIRT NIGHT! 🏐

Tonight at the home volleyball match, our Student Section was wearing their Nest shirts and bringing the energy!

The Booster Club is proud to support The Nest Program, which gives all W-SR High School students the opportunity to earn a Nest T-shirt by signing a contract committing to attend as many home W-SR events as possible and representing the Go-Hawks with positive sportsmanship and school spirit.

A huge shout out to our student section for being loud, proud and, showing up for the Go-Hawks tonight!

Waverly-Shell Rock CSD is partnering once again with KWAY Waverly to celebrate the amazing people who support our students every day. Through the Teacher of the Week program, you can nominate any school employee who has made a positive impact on your child or family. Despite the name, this recognition is open to EVERYONE on our team, including teachers, bus drivers, custodians, helpers, office staff, coaches and administrators.
