Kaitlyn Feldman will be doing her internship in a public school district with K-6 special education.
She’s most excited to use what she’s learned from both of her majors - Music Therapy and Music Education.
Favorite part of studying MT at Wartburg: “I loved being a part of a program that both professors and students are so passionate about. Music therapy isn’t a field you get into if you’re not all in!”

Leah will be interning at Clive Behavioral Health.
She is most excited about working with a diverse range of ages in a mental health setting!

Meet Jen Diemer!
Jen will be doing her music therapy internship at Park Nicollet Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN.
She says she’s excited to get to work with a lot of different populations and different music therapist within the hospital setting. She’s especially excited to work in hospice, which she expects will be difficult but very rewarding.
Favorite part of studying MT at Wartburg: “I loved that the small class sized allied me to really get to know my peers and professors really well. I also love that they get you in the field doing practicum your second year.”

Amanda Johnson is today’s music therapy senior spotlight!
Amanda would like to do her internship at a children’s hospital.
She is most excited about “the way music can change a person’s life” in her internship.
Her favorite part of studying music therapy at Wartburg was the experience(s) she had in her practicums.

Addyson is most interested in working with older adults, children, and/or individuals with disabilities.
“What excites me most about music therapy is the ability to help people with something I am so passionate about already, music!”
“I love the thoroughness of the music therapy classes, the supervision we get from multiple practicum experiences, and the passion of the music therapy professors and students in the program.”

Our next senior feature is Natalie Camp!
Natalie will be doing her internship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
In her internship, she’s excited “To expand my knowledge and MT abilities in a hospital setting with variety of rotations. I am looking forward to
working with the rehabilitation staff and advocating in the lowa City area. Lastly, to challenge myself to grow
musically. Wearing purple scrubs everyday is a bonus! :)”
Favorite part of studying MT at Warburg: “I enjoyed learning biology of the mind, music therapy in medical and mental health and world music.”

Danae will be doing her internship at Overlymusical, LLC in Smithfield, Utah.
“Overlymusical, LLC. is a private practice where I will have the opportunity of working with a large variety of clientele. I'm looking forward to continuing my education through this practice. Plus, I'll be living right next to the mountains! 😊”
“Through the Music Therapy program at Wartburg I've enjoyed learning about the endless possibilities of music
therapy. I've also really enjoyed building friendships with the other music therapy majors as we all take part in our education to being certified music therapists. ❤️”

Enlightenment Week is a week dedicated to acceptance of Neurodivergent Communities. The two chosen organizations we are raising money for this year are the Down Syndrome Association of North Central Iowa and the National Center for Learning Disabilities.

Internship site: Central Wisconsin Center in Madison, Wisconsin
Most excited about: “I am excited to have the opportunity to fully experience being a music therapist while learning from experts in the field. I think that this internship will make me a more well-rounded therapist as well because I do not have much experience with this population. I will also get to work with a team that includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists, which is something I’ve always been interested in.”
Population(s): “I will be working primarily with adults with intellectual disabilities. The center has some full-time residents but also serves the community with an intensive treatment program and outpatient services for individuals with various behavior problems.”

We're selling masks for Enlightenment Week (March 29-April 1) this year! They are $10 each, and all proceeds will go to the American Autism Society.
The goal of Enlightenment Week is to raise awareness for Autism and Neurodiversity. WSMTA puts on events throughout the week to do this, as well as to educate people on Autism and Neurodiversity.

For today's , we feature Payton Brinkman, one of West Music's lovely music therapy interns! Payton joined the West Music team as an intern in September 2020. She is originally from Cassville, Wisconsin and attended Wartburg College. Payton has enjoyed working with a variety of clients West Music and exploring new ways to engage over telehealth. In her free time she likes to play flute, enjoy nature, and relax with her dog.
Payton says, "I have embraced the challenge that this year has brought. We are constantly improving our services via telehealth and are continuing to connect with individuals to improve their lives and help them reach their goals. I am so grateful for the opportunity to touch lives through music even during an unprecedented year."

It’s the day before graduation! Let’s celebrate another Sami Willis. Sami will be an intern at Shriner’s Hospital in Sacramento, CA with In Harmony Music Therapy Services. “I will have the incredible opportunity to work in the ICU with burn patients and use music therapy to help them begin their recovery. I am also excited to expand my knowledge in both guitar and ukulele during this time!” She will be working with children with complex surgical needs. Let’s send Sami off with congrats! 🎹🎉🎼

Maddie will be an intern Meaningful Day Services in Indianapolis, IN. “I’m excited about this internship because it is with a population that I have not yet worked with but have been so interested in.” She will be working with clients with intellectual developmental disabilities. The today is Sadie Eitemiller. She will be an intern Omaha Music Therapy. “I am excited for the growth that it will bring and all the great clients I will meet along the way!” Sadie will be working with a wide range of individuals with varying needs. Congratulations Sadie! 🎉🎹
Our today is Claire Shaw. She will be an intern at Musical Safari, a private practice in the Twin Cities, MN metro area. “I’m excited to expand my knowledge and musical skills with a wide range of populations. I am also excited to be doing what I love every day!” Claire will be working with adults with intellectual disabilities, senior citizens, preschool-age children and more. Let’s congratulate Claire in her exciting new path! 🎉🎸

She will be an intern at West Music Quad Cities in Moline, IL in the fall. “I am so excited to serve the Midwest and learn in my new music therapy journey.” Payton will be working in schools, hospice, care facilities, and adaptive lessons.
