Hello Wartburg Music Therapy Community!! My current job is looking to hire more music therapists, and if you are looking for a dynamic team to help you continue to grow after internship (or if you know of anyone who is completing an internship or in the midst of a job search who you think might be a good candidate) please check out the following job description or pass it along! Hope you're all doing well!

Hi all, wanted to share this opportunity for a Sprouting Melodies training course that is starting tomorrow. Roman Music Therapy Services (the private practice that I work for) has an off shoot organization, Raising Harmony, that specializes in Music Therapy in early childhood development. The course is by Elizabeth Schwartz and Meredith Roman-Pizzi who are both phenomenal MTs and experts in this area. I learned a lot when I took it as an intern and I would recommend!
Registration for is now live. See details in the event below.
Hello all, I thought I would share the video that I made that features some of you wonderfully beautiful humans! This is to help out the first year music students adjust to the music life as a college student! If you could share this link around with anyone that you feel would benefit from this video that will be greatly appreciated!

Special thanks to Shilah Stroud, Jordan Schwartz and Sarah Manche for coming to Bartels today and caroling with the residents! What a treat for all of us to sing along with you ladies. 🎶🎄🎶
Hello everyone! As you are heading back to Wartburg this fall, and commuting throughout the year, take the chance during all of those long car rides to download podcasts from "The Music Therapy Show" by Janice Harris. You can find it on your iPhone under the podcast app! A lot you can learn as the host brings on a lot of different music therapists around the country to talk about what they do. Check it out!

Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. For Leah Cam ’22, Wartburg’s Music Therapy program offered her many opportunities to work with clients of all ages, starting in her first year.

"Wartburg has set me up for success in the field of music therapy by collaborating with many different placements in and around Waverly that allow students to come work with clients in their care. I was also given the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients from those in nursing homes to teen and adult shelters,” said Leah.

I think my favorite part though is I can go straight to the beach if I wanted to as soon as I finish work. :)"

What did you like most about studying MT at Wartburg?

"Wartburg has supplied me with so much knowledge and education on being a music therapist and given me the resources and accessibility to find out what kind of music therapist I want to become. What excites you the most about music therapy/this internship?

"On my way to my SOAR orientation in June of 2019, my mom and I were in a really severe car accident. We were both transported and held at HCMC in the Intensive Care Unit, me for about a week and her for about 3 weeks. While we were there, both my mom and I worked with the Music Therapist. Last summer, I reached out to her, and she remembered working with my mom and I while in the ICU. She built the internship for me so that I could go back and serve the community that did so much for us during our time of need. I'm really excited to go back and serve this community, starting exactly 4 years and 2 days after we were transported there by ambulance and helicopter, and hopefully support patients in the same way that my mom and I were."

What did you like most about studying MT at Wartburg?

"I loved all the opportunities we are given! The research opportunities I have been given at Wartburg are opportunities that I would not have found at other colleges. The opportunities I have found through Castle Singers have given me a life-long community and allowed me to share music ministry for all four of my college years. All of my work experiences, on campus and off, have given me the opportunity to build my professional skills and share positivity with many parts of campus."

What else have you loved about your experience at Wartburg?

"I never thought I'd be blessed enough to say that I am a published researcher :) I was published before the age of 21, and I really owe a lot of my opportunities and success to the Scholars Honor Program. I am graduating as a member of the Honors Program, and it has been a huge part of my Wartburg career, pushing me to explore my passions, both within music therapy and outside of it, exploring Worship Studies and Gender/Sexuality Studies as well :)"

Congrats, Hanna!

I will learn so much from these various sites and I will also have multiple supervisors overseeing me, so I am confident that I will learn a lot with these various populations and under the direction of many individuals!"

What did you like most about studying MT at Wartburg?

"I loved having smaller class sizes so that we were able to have a more personalized education, especially within music therapy."

What else have you loved about your experience at Wartburg?
