Service Trips - Fall Break 2021

Wartburg Education Students continue to AMAZE!
Rebecca Montgomery & Breeyn Gryp are leading a service trip to Waco, TX in a few weeks and would love for their fellow Educators to open their pocketbooks and help support this awesome opportunity. The organization they'll be working with is called Mission Waco, Mission World. While in Texas the Wartburg group will work with children from low-income communities during what is called, "Street Camp". This interaction is outside of school and just a way for these kids to engage with others and learn in a different way from an uplifting bunch.
If you'd like to help support their trip, visit the crowdfunding link below. Select "Support Service Trips" and "Dallas" in the checkout window. Any amount will help. Way to Go, guys! #worthit

Exciting learning and teaching going on in the Wartburg Education and Science Departments. Dr. Michael D. Bechtel and his team were awarded a grant from the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council to build and deliver classroom Ioponics Systems to educators across the state, Alaska, and Colorado. (Some of the team are pictured.)
This month Wartburg students, Sidney Baumgartner and Rebecca Montgomery, are leading Professional Development (PD) sessions about these Systems to teachers who received the units. On Aug. 10, 2021, the State's STEM Advisory Council also attended the PD on campus along with 20 local classroom teachers. All summer this group built each unit from scratch in a garage on campus; cutting and sanding the wood, assembling them plus painting. The group built 140 systems! Great work guys! #worthit
