Addyson Clark is our Student Teacher (ST) spotlight today. Addyson is a MU Education Senior this year and did her ST Placements at Aplington-Parkersburg CSD and Nashua-Plainfield CSD.
"I learned so much from Mrs. Weichers and the atmosphere at A-P Elementary was super welcoming. Working with young students all day filled my cup, gave me purpose, and proved that I was doing what I was meant to do."
Take a look at the pictures below showing Addyson in action at various concerts with all ages of students at the mentioned Community School Districts.
Addyson also said, "I absolutely loved being able to teach every grade level almost every day, from multi-age Kindergarten classes up through High School choir rehearsals and individual lessons, to learning from Mrs. Johanningmeier at N-P. People always ask which grade level I hope to work with in the future; I now can honestly say I truly love doing it all because of this placement. Before this experience, I didn't know that I could have so much love and pride in my heart for so many students and people."
Thank you to Mrs. Weichers at A-P and Mrs. Johanningmeier at N-P for hosting Addy this past Fall.

"Moving to Hawaii was a step way out of my comfort zone, but a step I will forever be grateful I took. This experience has shaped my professional and personal life for the better. I often said that my students taught me more than I could ever have taught them. My favorite part of the experience was building relationships with this diverse group of learners. I have never had the opportunity to be in a classroom with students from all over the world, including South Africa, Asia, and Europe. My gratitude extends to the Wartburg College Education Department for providing this life-changing experience to shape myself as well as future educators."

Hawaii HI-light: Bree Gryp
"I had the best experience in Hawaii! I learned so much both inside and outside of the classroom. This placement gave me the opportunity to build relationships with and learn about students from a variety of cultures. From my students teaching me words in their native language, to trying new foods, they welcomed me into their community and school. One of my favorite memories during my time in Hawaii was teaching my students about IOWA. It was so fun to see them so excited about my home and to bring a little bit of Wartburg to them. (Maybe we'll have futures Knights coming from Hawaii in a few years!?!)
I am so grateful to Wartburg for giving me this opportunity to learn in such a wonderful place!"

Mary, Star of the Sea School
"The opportunity that Wartburg has given me within this experience to come into Mrs. McIntyre's classroom at Mary, Star of the Sea, has created so many memories that I will never forget. My favorite part of the whole Student Teaching placement was the relationships I built within the classroom. I was truly blessed to have outstanding students that made going to school every day so much fun. They taught me so many things from a variety of cultures and were never afraid to teach me something they were proud of. My placement also taught me how to be flexible in my teaching and genuinely enjoy the craziness that comes as part of being a teacher. One thing that I felt I grew as an educator, was creating lessons that help fit a variety of students in cross-curricular aspects. I am so thankful for Wartburg College allowing me to come out and be a part of Mary, Star of the Sea School and for furthering my education on the path to becoming a licensed educator."
