Teach Iowa job site will now be IowaWORKS.gov - July 1, 2023
Iowa Workforce Development and the Iowa Department of Education are launching a statewide outreach campaign to help Iowa education leaders learn how to post education-related jobs on the IowaWORKS.gov website.
Division XVI of SF560 instructs Iowa Workforce Development (IWD), in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Education, to establish a system that allows the Iowa Department of Education, school districts, charter schools, Area Education Agencies and accredited nonpublic schools to post job openings. To meet this requirement, IowaWORKS.gov will replace Teach Iowa for all education-related job postings starting July 1.
For schools and agencies that post education-related jobs:
The Iowa Department of Education, school districts, charter schools and AEAs must begin to post job openings on IowaWORKS.gov starting July 1.
Schools can start posting open jobs on IowaWORKS.gov prior to July 1 by following the instructions in IWD’s job posting guide.
Open jobs currently posted on Teach Iowa will be moved to IowaWORKS without the need for further action by the poster. No new job postings will be accepted in the Teach Iowa system after July 1.
One-on-one assistance with posting jobs is available by contacting the IWD Business Engagement Division at 1-833-469-2967 or [email protected].
For job seekers:
Applicants who have resumes and credentials stored on the Teach Iowa site will need to retrieve that information prior to July 1.
Applicants will need to register and upload new versions of their resumes and credentials to IowaWORKS.gov. Registering will enable job applicants to post a resume and search for vacant positions using the virtual recruiter.
One-on-one assistance for job seekers to get started is provided at local IowaWORKS offices.
IWD offers resources, including recorded trainings on how to use IowaWORKS.gov, on the new Iowa Education Jobs page. New resources and materials for both hiring managers and job seekers will be added throughout the summer.
Iowa Workforce Development and the Iowa Department of Education urge everyone involved in education-related job postings and searches to register with IowaWORKS as soon as possible. This goes for job seekers as well as hiring organizations.
Questions regarding the Teach Iowa system can be directed to Lora Rasey, education program consultant for Teach Iowa, at 515-419-2088 or [email protected].

Iowa's 2022 Teacher of the Year, Sara Russell, visited campus today talking with Wartburg Education Students about all things TEACHER. She shared her experiences of serving with courage, compassion, and collaboration. Sara has been an educator for over 20 years and prides herself on student-centered learning, critical thinking and productive struggle. Her stories highlighted that learning is grounded in so much more than standards and content.
She says that education starts when both students and teachers feel safe and supported.
Some of the take-aways for first year teachers:
Give yourself grace-be compassionate to yourself.
Have a voice.
Self Care
Find the good.
Keep students at the center.
Work/Life balance.
Normalize asking for help. (Asking questions reveals strength even when you don't feel strong.)
Drown out the noise.
We ended taking a selfie of the "class". Classie!
