🤖🏀 Did You Know? Robotics Is a Sport in Iowa! 🏀🤖

Yes! As of 2025, Iowa legislation has taken major steps to recognize competitive robotics as an interscholastic activity, treating it similarly to traditional high school sports.

📜 What changed?
New legislation (SF 278 / SF 61) authorizes high school athletic organizations to sponsor, sanction, and administer interscholastic robotics competitions, just like other school sports.

💛🖤 At Wapsie Valley, this isn’t new news — our Athletic Boosters have recognized Robotics as a sanctioned sport for many years, and we’re proud of that continued support!

2026 FTC Iowa State Championships

Location: Xtream Arena

Spectators: Free. Spectators will only be able to access the pits, seating area and concourse. Spectators, including parents, will not be able to go into the judging area nor the competition fields.

***Credentials will need to be displayed to access the competition floor.***

* Outside food and drink is not allowed in the Arena, this applies to the teams and students.

* Attendees and spectators can bring in empty reusable water bottles and refill them in the arena.

* Concessions will be open throughout the concourse (concessions are cashless).
